Lots of people talk about warranty impact. You need to have a conversation with your dealer. Mine was comfortable and has done a good number of these. They have also in the past been a GIAC distributor. They've never had a warranty issue as a result. I do a lot of business with them and have a good relationship. Based on all that I felt fine doing the tune and happy that I did. Your circumstance may be different - you'll need to decide your comfort level.

on the 991.2 (all models) and 718 you have to have the ecu unlocked for any tune. From there you can plug into the obd2 port and load your maps. On my 981 gt4, the ecu didnt have to be unlocked-just hook up to the obd2 port and go like you saw on the videos above. Unlocking the ecu is not too bad-pretty simple

Just as a comparison my dealer charges $2800 for the giac/champion remap

Update - I've put about 1200 miles on my T since the Cobb tune. I absolutely love it. It just pulls and pulls. So much torque way down low and it pulls all the way to redline building steam. Best money I've spent on any car I've owned.

You need to buy a Dragy ($149) or Vbox.
Unload the tune, do some 0-60, 1/8, and 1/4 mile passes on a "closed road" lol
Load the tune , and do the same 0-60, 1/8, 1/4 passes. The difference in the MPH of the 1/4 will tell you the WHP you gained (using a proper HP calculator).

Or you could just dyno the car and/or take it to the 1/4 mile track and reference your trap speeds to corroborate the hp. Great to hear things are going well with your OTS tune, I have the same experience with mine and have well over 1000 miles on it as well!

Literally having to talk myself into waiting until 1000 mile break in to do the Hydra tune. Had Soul PP sport cats installed yesterday...so sound issue is 10000% solved!

I asked mine but they said no.

My dealer was able to quickly hook up and download the X51 software on mine for that upgrade, so maybe there might be a boost limiting firmware chip in the ECU that has to be physically changed, before it allows higher boost, or perhaps a super strong password that prevents software hacking has to be physically defeated.
I don't have the answer. Just guessing. Anybody else with ideas?
