Alarm on beeps
Why does my car sometimes beep once and other times it beeps twice when turning on the alarm?

To me, it means "it's ready" (one beep) vs "it's alarmed" (2 beeps).
For example, you pop the frunk with the button on the side door jamb, exit the car, close the door, and hit the lock. The car beeps once, because the frunk is unlatched. Then you get your stuff out of the frunk, and latch the hood down. Then the car will beep twice, telling you it's secured. Make sense?

Thanks. But to me it seems kind of random. Sometimes one beep other times two beeps. i just hit the lock button once on the remote.

My '18 GTS w/entry & drive does the same thing. One touch on the door handle fully arms the system, and is supposed to beep twice. A double touch on the handle disables the interior surveillance, and is supposed to beep once. I always touch the handle just once, but rarely get the double beep, just one beep. However, I'm pretty certain it is working correctly, because the headlight responses are correct for the single or double touch. When I was in for service a month ago, I asked them to check it. They told me it is working as intended except for the beeps, which they couldn't explain at the time. Without some sort of code or indication on their test equipment, they don't have anything to investigate. It doesn't worry me, as with either condition, the alarm is still on. The interior surveillance off just accommodates a passenger staying in the car when it is locked and armed.

Alison (my gf) has a '17 718 Cayman. She does not have Entry & Drive.
Park the car, get out, close the door, press the lock button - sometimes it beeps once and sometimes twice. Completely random. All the looking I've done says it's a glitch and those that have taken them to service for this issue have no resolution.

Mine is definitely random....2017 C2S coupe with Entry & Drive. Sometimes I get out and lock car immediately, sometimes have to get stuff out of the frunk first, sometimes lock with handle and sometimes with the key and I never know whether I'll get one or two beeps. Finally stopped trying to figure it out...doesn't concern me anymore.
The only thing that really threw me for a loop not long after I got the car is that I couldn't get it to beep at all. This happened to be in my garage. I eventually noticed that I'd unintentionally opened the engine cover somehow. Once I pressed that shut....beep!

One beep is alarmed interior and exterior, two beeps is alarmed exterior. Some of it is how you push the fob buttons, and most of it seems to be where you are when pushing and how the antennas are receiving...
