There are too many changes with the 992 which I don't like and will not grow on me. If I had issues with a few of the changes, that wouldn't be a problem. But there are so many head-scratcher changes that I just can't consider this gen of the 992. Maybe we'll see some improvements in the 992.2. As a result, I ended up taking one of the few remaining 991.2 allocations. Unfortunately my delivery isn't until mid-May. The wait is killing me.
Smart move, though I’m biased😄. My delivery is also May, but some folks on this forum have said that Porsche is ahead of schedule on 991.2 builds and deliveries. My guess is they’re trying to switch everything over to 992 for efficiency purposes.

I think it’s actually pretty neat that we’ll have some of the very last newly built 991.2s. It actually would be sort of cool to be the very last, though I hear you on the anticipation. Just keep thinking good things come to those who wait.😜

I read something about better injectors and turbos with a little less lag but Porsche better be offering ride alongs with Mark Webber to be able to show folks the difference. I have a 991.1 GTS and if they give me a manual tranny with about 500hp I might consider writing the check . O/w I am considering a lifetime goal to scratch the itch of Ferrari ownership. Its really not a lot more now than a fully loaded new 911

I suggest you head over to ferrarichat (I am carnut there), I have been on that forum over 15 years. I live about 10 minutes from Algar Ferrari (they store my cars in winter for me) and have bought about 15 cars from them in the last 23 years. All I will tell you is that Ferrari ownership is different than owning a Porsche. You can learn a lot on the forum, and you might find the monetary (as well as other things) differences are greater (for the right car) than you might think.

I will be selling my 991.2 C2S and purchasing a new 992 C2S within a year! Love my 991.2 but I believe the 992 will bring improvements with a more modern interior.

I'm with you all the way on this. Had a 987, 981 and then 718, which I'd still have if it wasn't for that bloody Subaru engine. The 911 is the icon and lovely but just a bit too big and GTish for my needs. Just hope they do bring out a Boxster 6 cylinder, na or turbo, with a proper roof, insulation and proper roof. No issues at all with the turbo 991.2, those extra 2 cylinders with twin small turbos make all the difference to the 4 with single big turbo.

This is my viewpoint as well.
Had a 09 cayman S, sold it and got a 991 S, love the car but I miss the nimbleness of the cayman.
Got the classic car itch and got a 3.2 last year.
I really want to get back into a cayman. 718 GTS most likely but first I need to replace my daily driver (an 05 camry LOL). Yes I thought about making the 718 or 911 the daily drive but you guys haven't driven on houston roads.

Carnut, I am actually considering the Ferrari route as well, specifically the 458. From what I have been finding through my research is that the overall cost of ownership is not super ridiculous, especially when compared to older F-cars that require engine out servicing. What are your thoughts on the 458, which can be had for about 160's for a nice "high mileage car", high mileage being like 10k miles LOL.

Not a chance, keeping my 991.2 for a long time, just don’t care for the 992 rear end or interior. Will likely go backwards towards an older GT3, 964, or older air cooled after the 991.2. I saw the 992 back in May of last year as part of a focus group, did not like it back then either. I do like the front and the wider rear but I just did not care for the rest of it, YMMV.

If they release an NA option with a MT and back seat I'd certainly consider it. Otherwise, nope.

No chance. Porsche destroyed the 992 design. Extremely happy with my 991.2

As a 993 owner, everyone is looking for their Goldilocks. Mine was an 07 Exige S which I named Goldilocks ....

If you ever see a not red three pedal 612, let me know. I told Francis at Algar I was looking for one in 09, still have not found one to buy. At this point, they are going for such crazy money I might just get a two pedal version as those are under $100k. Should have kept my 250 GTE, now I don’t want to pay the price for one. Oh well, there is always another crash.

Hi Carnut. I've been over there a long time too, mostly lurking as I've never been fortunate enough to own an F car....yet. I think if I lived 10 min from a good dealer like Algar and/or had a fourth garage bay, I might be an owner currently. I heard somewhere that Algar has one or more new 488s for sale, a pretty much unheard of thing at Ferrari.

I didn't expect to find too many warm hugs here for the 992, but it does seem a little more negative than I expected. We'll see how folks warm up over time.
