Curious, what is this weird brown foam inside the front fenders? BTW this is on both sides of the car, but the driver side hasn't expanded like this.

Looks like a mushroom.
Can't tell if it's a morel or shiitake.
Slice
Sauté with:
Butter
White wine
Shallots
Serve on top of your favorite cut of steak.

Most likely sound deadening material, as others have suggested, to eliminate body rattle or other noises. Did you purchase the car used? And is this 991.1 or .2?

Maybe- Hopefully that is all it is and not something more suspicious going-on. As it is a CPO car maybe just someone got a little excited with the foam spray -- doesn't look right as you shouldn't "see" sound deadening material.
I recommend that you should open the frunk lid, and inspect that area more closely. Pull-back the plastic trim and look beneath. That area is where the gas tank inlet is located, and sometimes deadening is added around that area due to noise. But again, you shouldn't see that much sticking-out. And does it interfere with the release cable located in that area? If you get a chance, take some extra pics and post here....
Good Luck!
