Here are my 20" Carrera's painted Plantinum Satin which I like but now think Sport Techno's are pretty cool. Since my car came from the factory with these I will keep them but might get a second set of the Technos with the black background color. I like the wheels the OP didn't too but not on my Rhodium Silver car.
IMO they are the ugliest wheel on the 991.. Especially in black.. They look like they're made by Fisher Price. I can totally see why Porsche killed them off.
That's probably why they were so popular...
I'm not a big fan of the black ones either, but the standard Sport Technos are one of the best looking sports car wheels ever put on any car. Too many Porsche wheels are weak looking 10 spoke wheels that really belong on a luxo barge rather than a sports car. The STs are a proper aggressive sporty wheel. Five spoke wheels will always look for more aggressive and sporty than 10 spokes.
I have the 20" RS Spyders on my 911, however, my second choice for the 911 would have been the 20" Carrera Sport Wheel that is on my Wife's 718 Cayman and for my Macan I really like my 21" Turbo Design Wheel. The 20" RS Spyders are a real pain to clean, but with the darker finish, they do not show dirt and brake dust as much as the lighter color wheels. In my opinion, Porsche makes some of the best looking OEM wheels.
I have those Carrera Classic wheels and quite like them! Very elegant. True, not boy-racer, but not what I was looking for. Looks best with the colored centers.
You guys are nuts. Those wheels are beautiful. IMO the Sport Technos look too busy and fussy, and apparently they're heavy too which makes it all the worse. The only issue I had with those wheels when I was shopping was that they're not black (and I really wanted black wheels since I never had them before, and because I think they look best). But overall I don't think any OEM wheels stack up to my HRE's.
