Absolutely !! Unfortunately I forgot to do a sound clip before I removed the stock headers. Once I get this installed I will do a review with some red line pulls and revs ...Cant wait.

so with long tube you gain on mid to high end vs low end with shorter tube? Would be nice to have a group by - win win for both

Honestly I was worried about seized bolts as well. So I went and bought some PB Blaster penetrating oil. Sprayed all the nuts and header bolts. I did not spray the oxygen sensors. Waited a day and they literally came off with no problems. I had a couple spare 22ml wrenches, so I cut one in half and it help to get in and remove the oxygen sensors easier. Entire job with jacking the car up maybe took me 45 mins taking my Time. super easy.

Thank you for the response. I noticed that the directions suggest loosing the straps for the center radiator, did you do that? If not, curious how your re-install goes with lining up headers/exhaust. Please keep us posted & thanks again! -Dom

On my 15 GTS there is no straps. I was going to loosen the the mounts for the centre muffler, but after a little wiggling the headers slid right out. Hoping the install will be as easy... hah. Im no mechanic my any means, but they were super easy to remove. I willl take some photos of install and post them as soon I get them.

Cheers,
Damon

My understanding is the opposite - long tube, low to mid. Can Soul comment on this please? Thank you!

yes, interested in clarifying rpm range gains with short vs long tube

Long gives gains on mid to high rpm, short gives low to mid. Everyone seems to agree on that. That said the differences between long and short for our cars is much less than for many other vehicles, so my educated guess is that the differences will also be correspondingly be smaller. Also part of the gain will be from header tubes themselves and part from the higher flowing cats, thus basically reducing the difference between long and short for us.

Porsche seems to have used short tube design for the GT3, whatever that is worth...

These also look like unequal length, which is inferior to equal length.

More bends are also generally disadvantageous as compared to less bends.

Soul??

At the end of the day, we are talking about "header theory" and the results of which will vary from vehicle to vehicle. Typically, you'll find that a "long tube" header speeds up the exhaust flow going into the merge for better low-end and mid range torque over a shorter primary tube design. We also found that a long tube header outperforms a short tube header in most applications across the majority (if not all) of the powercurve. We prefer to use longer primary tubes across our header lineup to provide the most benefit across the powercurve, the best option for the majority of our target audience. It is also important to note that horsepower is calculated from torque and engine speed, so know that more torque is good! For reference in a real world application, I personally switched from a shorter primary tube header to a longer primary tube on my Cayman R (as did a close friend with PCA Club Racing on his 987.2 Boxster S) and we both could feel a notable improvement in torque in corner exits. It was a nice improvement and made a difference on our lap times and mph.

There are technical articles out there to research on "header theory" to become a bit more educated on the subject, just be sure to stay away from "blogs/opinions" and actually learn the science behind it. Engine Masters also put out a pretty nice video showing a comparison between different header lengths, it is a fun watch (below) though remember this should not be assumed as results for every engine platform as results will vary.

It is important to note that we invite all our customers to work with us and a local shop to dyno our products to develop repeatable figures and realistic expectations for everyone on upgrades like these. We will even cover the cost of the dyno runs, as the more data the better to move the industry forward and provide the best product possible to the Porsche community. Please feel free to give us a call to discuss these topics and help you make an educated decision

Best Regards,
John Gaydos

FVD are much shorter tubes. FVD will give more low/mid and [all things equal sans length] the Soul will give more upper end. Fabspeed is also a shorter tube. The website says better throttle response; probably not, given the tube length. Longer tubes also sound better. The biggest advantage here vs stock is going to be those cats. Big thanks from the community to Soul for investing in us and our aging platforms.
