First track event in category 3 storm!!

Burning Brakes
I vote it is not worth it. If your goal is fun and not to be a racer then I dont see the point. Also, if this is your DD, would really suck even if you have just a minor wreck.

Probably too late for the poster but I was supposed to go today and tomorrow. I decided to skip.
However, some people did show up this morning.
If I was in your shoes then I would still go. Half the day for beginners is on the skid pad doing car control exercises along with some video instruction in a class.

I've done several rainy track days, including VIR and COTA. Had a ton of fun and learned a lot. They let us keep our windows up and use turn signals for point-by's.
Do it.

Track day went well, learned a hell lot and it dried up starting early afternoon..so much for the category 3 storm! I really think meteorologists on the local stations just blow it out if proportions.
Here’re some pics !

‘exactly ! That’s exactly what we did. If it rained a bit, we kept windows up and used turn signals

Three Wheelin'
Hey, I signed up long time ago for my first track event ever...happens to be at Leguna Seca tomorrow, however, atmospheric river is along the way with all day rainfall + gutsy winds (category 3 storm). Some say its an opportunity to learn how to control the car in such conditions etc etc but I’m having some concerns re safety etc..have a coach assigned..any thoughts on the situation or tips? Should I bail out / keep it?
Btw I’ve done one auto-cross and 2 laps of Nordschleife/ Nurburgring plus quite a few spirited canyon drives ...that sums up my experience ...

Sounds like fun. I might be the exception, driving in the rain gives me a rush.

Race Car
"Rains a bit "and "Cat. 3" are two different things. The key to controlling a car in 100 MPH wind/downpours is to get off the road. But that may or may not be what happens throughout the day, and there is lots to be learned in the wet.
That said, the organization running the event likely will assure that it doesn't risk participant safety - and its existence - by managing its liability as appropriate to conditions.
See: IMSA Daytona 2019.
