Default Qi Charger in Armrest

Hello all. If this has been beat to death already, my apologies and please redirect me.

Has anyone found a Qi charger that fits under the armrest? Or, better yet, a Qi charger that fits UNDER the tray of the armrest and mounts (adhesive?) to the bottom of the aforementioned tray?

Thanks, and once again my apologies if this has a prior life!

how are you going to keep your phone from sliding off the contact point for charging? Asking for a friend...

Make the entire thing a Qi charger or install a mini raised ledge so the phone stays in place.

Default Gravity and the console lid

Of course! Please tell your friend that my thought would be that gravity and the console lid separately and together would keep the little darling firmly in place in the trey. The Qi charger would hopefully be adhered somehow underneath that trey to the bottom of the trey if it could be gotten to and a power source... sourced. That way if you are not hooked into the USB or if the USB IS hooked into, that weak power source wouldn't be attempting to charge the phone. The Qi charger would handle that duty whether you are using Apple Car Play or not.

That handy-dandy little item and a head-up display (HUD) would be the only two things I would add to the '19 Targa 4S. I heard a rumor that a HUD was coming. Keeps your eyes where they belong... on the girl crossing the street! Oops! Did I say that? Please disregard. Poor judgement! Imagine a heterosexual owning a Porsche!

What about a permanent butt plug on all the seats?

I had this on my Ferrari. Self-lubricating using Paragon micron punkalouvres (a great formerly east German company). The reservoirs were hand machined in Paris by an old retired Dutch seamstress who dabbled in nuclear rocketry. She crafted them from rare earth metals, and allegedly had social ties to Goebells.

It was all very exclusive and artisanal, until the unfortunate accident.

P.S. pardon the slight thread drift.

Here is a thin Qi charger that may work. Seems thin enough.

Reviving this necro-thread, I ordered one and will design a 3d printed insert that will hopefully hold the phone in place in the armrest when charging.

This is my effort, testing for fit on Sunday. I've made quite a few for Macan so far. I've been using 5W chargers when connected to the cars USB port as that is all it will support. With higher rated USB adapters I've got Belkin 10W chargers to work (and I think iPhone only supports up to 7.5W)

More to follow

Nice finish. Are you ironing or using a solvent chamber?

Neither :-)

It is printed face down. I had a Chinese Prusa clone and it worked but fiddly. Bought the real deal Prusa and blown away by the quality. This print is at the lowest resolution of print.

I like your design too. We've both designed it so the phone can't move much (and stay in range of the QI charger). I've also made my first (for a Macan) with an Apple MagSafe charger

Just to add one consideration… I tried all this and worked fine, but on long drives the phone would overheat in the closed compartment. Scrapped the setup and went back to a cable.

Yeah I found a couple solutions. Either use a lower power charger or one that has a fan (samsung makes one) and design a tray with vent channels, and you can also disable fast wireless charging on an android phone. It's not perfect but it cycles charge on and off and seems to be net positive.
