2017 991.2 Carrera S - Problems and Issues? (2019 version)
#16
My cupholder won't hold the last "click" and therefore won't secure my 20oz Zojirushi. I've had 2 981s, a '15 TT and a '17 Targa; in all four of those cars it worked perfectly. So far, one dealer (PNO) has said nothing they can do. Not happy there. Yes, I drink coffee while driving to work.
Otherwise, I'm really enjoying the base 3.0 after the Powerkit Targa. More entertaining around town IMO.
Thanks to Pete Stark for his write up on the base car...

Keadog:
My windshield was finally replaced for a new one under warranty. I understand that for 19 cabrios, this shouldn't be a problem since its supposed to be corrected.
My dealer also decided to change my water pump even that it didn't have signs of leakage. They just did it on a preventive way based on some other cars they were seeing with problems. For 19 cabrios, this shouldn't be a problem since they should be equipped with the new pump design.

2017 C4S with most options at 34k miles
Driver side strut was making noise due to incorrect install at factory and had to be fixed. This cascaded into driver side rear panel rattles and some other dealer cosmetic damage.
Brake booster causing squeaky brake pedal (replaced booster at dealer). Probably due to incorrect brake job at Indy shop.
Leaky water pump was replaced (previous owner since its CPO)
Rocks get lodged between front PCCB calipers and score wheels (cosmetic and I gave up on it...well defined rings that appear part of wheel design at this point)
Corner of windshield has goop leaking a little (I think from bird impact it mushed out). Hasn't spread, but has me concerned due to other reports glue melts.
Some bugs/glitches with PCM/CarPlay requiring restart or re-plug phone.
Rear tires lasting only 7.5k miles 3 times so far (blame turbo torque and driver)
Real world fuel economy 20-23 driving fast mostly highway (16-18 city) which is less than expected
Rattle/squeak coming from seat tilt latch (replacement trim didn't help, but fixed by puttting grease in there at dealer)
Some weird wandering handling that was fixed by reducing tire pressures
A few problems aside, I'd say reliably is decent. All major components are holding up. Driver and functions great every start up.

I have a few small issues that were both brought to Jim Ellis attention considering it is still under warranty. These are a wind noise above 60mph over my left shoulder and boost pressure never reading above 10 under WOT in any gear. Service tech heard wind noise and stated it could be drivers side rear window seal after hearing a difference when he pressed against it while I was driving. Jim Ellis kept car for two days (complimentary Macan loaner which was nice) but called and stated both of these things were normal and that the 911 is not a quiet car. They also returned the car to me dirty(outside) after I brought it to them clean. Not happy with their service to say the least. On the way home from ATL, a rock flew up and cracked my windshield. With all of this I am absolutely in love with the car. Any help would be appreciated!

2017 C2S 7MT with 34K miles. I think I have the squeak with the rear strut and this thread pinpointed it for me. Water pump fixed at 20k when dealer spotted. An occasion PCM glitch. Battery needed replacement, but AZ kills those fast and it was easy to do. Real easy to burn tires off the car.
Other than that the car has been absolutely solid and is just a joy to drive. I cant imagine a better DD then this.

I've had the car for about two months and the water pump needed to be replaced after a month of owning it. The rear deck lid lift work either.
With so many people reporting the water pump failure, I'm surprised there hasn't been a recall. My car has about 16k miles on it and there were reportedly 4 or 5 cars in for the same problem when I brought my in. They were back ordered on the parts

‘17 C4S with 25k miles. Air Oil Separator issue at approximately 15k miles and appears that there is now an issue with the replacement (white smoke upon initial start up and continues until car warms up by a few degrees). PCM was also replaced when the air oil separator was switched out due to random reboots and failure to switch to the rear view camera in reverse. Both headlights also replaced due to delamination. In addition to the current a/o separator issue, I feel like there is some type of issue with my rear suspension which has become increasingly harsh over the past months. Will be taking it in soon to have those items and a passenger side footwell light looked at and repaired. All has been repaired under CPO so far.

2017 base C2 here.
Car bought June 19, as a CPO. Currently 25K miles.
First owner used it as a personal lease. The Carfax I have lists the initial 10K service and Intermediate 20K service. These are confirmed on the screenshot of the Dealer Record I have. There are three other service visits listed, for which I have no information.
Since I bought the car, it's been into the dealer for one unscheduled repair, June 19. I had persistent check engine light which went away then came back. Diagnosis was Tank vent sensor faulty, which was replaced under warranty, Part: 9A2-110-095-01 AS TANK VENTILATION. No charge.
And that's it. Last September on the way up to the PEC ATL I caught a rock, the small 1/2" star crack in my windscreen was repaired in my driveway by Safelite. December I bought a set four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and did a four wheel alignment. January I did my own Oil Service for $92 including oil, filter, ring and plug.
