991.2 gts fail- thoughts?
Hey all...curious if anyone has experienced this. Driving my manual, 4K mike 991.2 gts, and suddenly the loudest clicking/knocking noise from what felt was the front of the car, but likely from the engine itself. I think it was resonating throughout the car. Extremely loud and people on street were staring so I know it was not normal.
Pulled over immediately, turned off the car out of panic of damaging anything. Turned car back on and noise was gone. I’m likely not driving again until I have time to get it do the dealer.
thoughts on similar experience? It was a continuous loud knock/click which was clearly in line with rpms, so it had to be coming from engine. I hope this is something that can be diagnosed by dealer before major damage.

This may sound strange, but have you ever had a stone get caught up in your brake rotors? It can be disconcerting the first time you do. Sometimes all it takes is for no forward momentum to dislodge it. Sometimes a short reverse... Hope it was that and nothing worse. Good luck!

I’ve had this happen to me with another car, but it did not sound like a knocking. It was a loud screeching, and slight grind noise. Little bit of back and forth and it cleared up. Hope this is what the OP is experiencing.

In order to know if it's the engine or something further down the drive train or something caught in the brakes, you need to push in the clutch and rev the engine.
Does the frequency of the clicking vary with engine revs or with wheel rpm?

Another possibility: a #6 machine screw was tossed up through my front passenger wheel wheel - it got lodged in there and would click at whatever speed the cooling fan was spinning rather than matching engine or wheel rpm.
will update further, but likely heading to dealer just to be 100% safe. thank god for warranties
Noise stopping after powering off and powering on doesn’t likely point to a brake pad stuck object. Could be good to have it looked at. Will likely get the lovely “unable to reproduce” comment but at least there will be documentation that you had that happen. Could be good incase it happens again,
