Default E85 fuel

Has anyone experimented with E85 in their 991.2? I'm contemplating on adding in a couple gallons along with a full tank of 91 or 95 for additional octane boosting.

4.0, are you still mixing E85 with decent results?

Why? Unless you got a tune and different fuel system it’s pointless. Car only needs 91 octane to do all it can...93 will guarantees performance if the 91 is stale.

Non-ethanol blend allows 5-10% more efficiency. If anything you’re just going to get less range per tank.

I messed around with blending in 981 and determined it’s a waste of time. Best thing to do is get fresh premium grade gas along your normal routes.

If you want more power, you should find another car...though its hard to imagine you need more power?

Things are a little different in a 991.2 on a stage 2 tune.. Especially when it comes to temperatures and cooling.

U have a $100+K car and you’re worried about saving $.50 a gallon? Go back to a Kia.

I'll give you a pass on this one. Too easy.

The holy grail is 91 or 93 pure gas no corn syrup.

My car goes in Monday for beginning of development for an E50 tune. I’m told you need 35% more volume to equal same power with E85. First goal is to log injector ms and see what the fuel system can do. Someone had spark breakup when they tried and couldnt find a cooler plug but that was a year ago. Would be great to pull into a Kroger and get cheap race fuel. Not $0.50 savings. MS109 is $14 a gallon. Another thing we are hoping to find is how much the stock fuel system can handle. DoNt want to develop a secondary fuel system on these direct injection engines.

Ooh! Nice. Please share what you come across. I've got a gas station nearby that sells the most potent E85 in the entire state (actually measures to E85 rather than E15).

Where's our Aussie friend? I'd like to know what he's up to other than his typical kangaroo boxing.

We in Florida have few privileges but one is 93 Octane. However the 93 Octane is also delivered as E85 on the pump or worse. So, my E85 93 Octane has been running my last 5 911s perfectly. I have no power deficit. I have no complaints. I am told that E85 will kill all the rubber ductwork and eventually kill the water pump (?). Please tell me what is the problem with 93 Octane E85. I will accept all whippings which I receive regularly from Rennlist when I ask a question.
Please begin the slaughter but answer the question.!

I add a gallon or so when I go for a "run". No issues. Add a gallon; do some hard pulls, log, make sure fuel pump and timing are in check.
I think e15-e20 should be fine for stage 2.

Disclaimer, I'm not tuned. I've used e85 mixes on BMWs a lot...go a gallon at a time and log.
If you feel somethings not right, drive the tank and cut with 93.
