Tire pressures are way to high that’s why you are unhappy. I run 31 front and 34 rear on my TTS. You could go 32f and 35R but no more than that and set your Tire setting for comfort, partial load.

I've had a few 4S replacement rear sets. Only the first set felt funky (hence the original post), but the other 2 were fine. The tire handles best at lower pressures (30ish), but even at 40, the newer sets seem to be fine (though the ride is a lot more bumpy). I've had an alignment done for all but the first set, so that might have something to do with it. The first set was noiser. First set was installed at Indy (who also installed fronts), but dealer installed the others rears. Number of factors, but nonetheless, I don't get that squirrely vague feel with the last 2 sets.

It almost might have something to do with you need to break in/wear the front tires.

I’ve had p-zeros on the 981 and 991 and hated them on both cars for their cold weather performance, road noise, and how quickly they become skittish until they’re hot. I ran those at 30.5/38 after lots of trial and error, on the 991.

I switched to the PS4S recently, and you can certainly feel the significantly softer sidewalls in the on-center driving and initial turn in. They’re known for having soft sidewalls versus other sporty tires. The p-zeros react very quickly to initial steering inputs, but do terribly with mid-corner bumps or traction in poor road surface conditions. You also get the road noise, partially from the firmer sidewalls. The PS4S trades away this turn in sensitivity for phenomenal road holding during mid-corner bumps/interruptions, which for me is FAR more confidence inspiring. Knowing and feeling that I can trust the car in a corner is preferable to me over having a sharper turn in. I suspect that this is what some folks are feeling, but for me, the trade offs are 100% worth it.

After playing around with the PS4S, I’m running 32/39 cold for daily, but would probably knock off 4psi rear before a dedicated spirited drive.

I really wish they made RE71’s in 245/305... I feel like I need something in between the 4S and SC2.

Call me crazy but I feel like the PZero N1 is sportier than the 4S (they are a softer compound), but likely not as good of an all around tire.

Exactly. 4S grip better in wet, dry, cold, and make less noise as they wear than Pirelli. Only downside is they cannot handle the stupid “full” load so you have to let air out every time you get it back from the dealer. Not that big a sacrifice.

You are not crazy. I feel the same way. I actually really like the PZero N1 at ambient temps above 80F. Below that performance seems to fall off rapidly - but they are still decent even down into the 40s F if you pay attention. The progressive breakaway at low temps makes for some fun drifts :-)

They make the S007A, which is supposed to be the replacement for the RE11. Worth a look maybe?

I was giving those a look, not too many reviews yet, but they are very affordable.. with a Tire Rack commercial account you can get a full set for like $670 plus shipping, almost 1/3 of the Michelin...

They are the only “extreme performance summer” in 245/305

For those looking for a more aggressive tire, why aren't you looking at the Pilot Sport Cup 2 - Connect 240?
It has a TW rating of 240 and they come in stock P-car sizes. I just wish they made a 255/35-20 for the front. I think the 255/40 will be too tall the the 265/35 might be too wide and rub. I don't relish going crazy with camber to wear the tires out too quickly.

Well, I replaced the original P Zeros two weeks ago with PS4S's. At 13K as they were dry rotting and it was time. I have yet to drive the car but I hope that I did not make a mistake with these tires. Time will tell.....I will never track the car (2012.5 991 CS2).

Having had 3 sets of Cup 2s on 2 different street cars, they aren’t as good a street tire as a PS4S. In fact I strongly believe the grip is better on the PS4S under street temperatures. Michelin definitely closed the performance gap to the Cup 2 from the PSS.

Another factor in the a Cup 2 is the sidewalls are brittle. My fronts were cracked through to the actual sidewall from less than smooth pavement transitions on our city inner loop.

One of these cars I went from a Cup 2 to the PS4S. Loved the change. I was going to do the same on my GT4 but sold it before the tires needed changing. I never liked the Cup 2’s grip on that car for street. I could never get temperature in them.

I thought the Cup 2 Connect - 240 is more of an extreme performance street tire (like other 200TW tires out there)?
It's not the full-blown Cup 2 tire, but something between the Cup 2 and PS4S.

Am I mistaken?

I typically only buy N rated Tires, so I don’t think you can get it but one way. Mine were N0, but I think there’s a N1 now in GT4 sizes anyway. I’ve also had 2 sets of PS4S and for my driving, it’s maybe the best street tire I’ve had. That and the Bridgestone RE11s which I put on the car in my avatar. Those extreme performance tires were miles ahead of the PS2s I replaced. Unfortunately Bridgestone no longer makes that tire and probably didn’t in 20” so PS4S it is!

I’m keeping 29/34 comfort full load for my PS4S N0s - it’s day/night better than pzeros -whether straight line, backroads and/or track, ps4s have no match .
