Maybe call a Porsche collision center? They might be able to help. I think if you could see both side by side, you could confirm if the mechanism looked the same and if they are the same size wise. But then it’s still a gamble.and if they order in a glass sunroof, they would likely not be able to return it.

It is a bolt in, six fasteners, three on either side. Recalibrate the sunroof after install by holding the middle button down to cycle the sunroof through its travel completely if memory serves. I took detailed measurements of both panels, no need to swap seals in the cassette or anything like that, just bolt in the glass panel.

Where do you get a glass sunroof to fit where the steel sunroof is?

I too would be quite interested.... this sounds like a rather curious and fun mod!

Both, metal and glass are supposed to be the exact same size and other than the mesh cover, should work the same way.

I am considering a carbon roof conversion on mine, so glass roof and all ancillary parts may be available if anyone is interested... 😁

You don't save as much weight as you'd think. I did this on my 2006 BMW 330i (e90) and it only ended up saving about 15lbs. This is for a four-door sedan roof, which is much larger than the 911 roof.
For you and your build,I could see why you'd want to do this as it fits with the scope, plus it would look cool.

Indeed, the 15lb weight savings isn't what's driving my decision, rather its the overall look that I want.

If it is the overall look, just have your local vinyl wrapping shop do shiny black on the roof section to duplicate the glass roof look. My wife has a white Macan S and I'm tempted to do that to her Mac, along with some other mods like painting lower black parts to duplicate some of the OE body-color options..

One reason I bought my 991 was because I had a 993 Targa in white with the black glass Targa top. Looked the same.

I already have a black glass roof and it looks great!
....but my car is an RS conversion and the carbon fiber (sunroof delete) roof is the look I really want

For those that are wondering, I found this where someone had done the swap. It looks fairly straightforward.

I’m thinking about this too, so if anyone wants to swap my Platinum silver roof for their glass proof in the San Diego area, drop me a PM.
