Default Porsche 911 991.2 boost pressure

Hello

I have a 2018 991.2 911 standard carerra. I've just finished running it in past the 3000km mark as recommended by the manual. I took it out today and decided to open it up for the first time. I looked at the boost gauge and it did not reach over 2 or 3 psi no matter what I did? I tried WOT until it relined upto about 120km/h in normal, sports and sports plus modes.

Is this the normal level of boost pressure you'd expect to see? Or is there something wrong with the car?

Are you sure the gauge is not in bar?

1 bar = 14.5 psi.

1 bar = 14.5 psi.
2 bar = 29 psi. That would be quite remarkable.

Agree.

Maybe he's looking at oil pressure, in bar, and not the boost.

You have to hammer it hard/fast.

No. Unless you are set to Bar vice psi, as posted. You should see boost very, very easily. You don't need to hammer it at all, particularly in Sport or +, as the turbos are primed and ready to spool. Check your settings, and if psi, then head to the mech for sure.

Something wrong if only 2 psi or so. Are you sure it's set to psi? If so,
This might be worth a service appointment.

I also have abase C2 and still brand new - so keeping it under 4K rpm.

Have the same question - when should I be seeing boost on the psi gauge outlined in the pic above? I rarely see this budge off zero at all. I am in Sport mode all the time, but have to give pretty good gas fir to show any boost. IS the issue that i am having to keep it under 4K rpm?

EDIT - disregard, found my answer in another thread.

back to life..

i noticed today that in second gear (Base C2) I reach 13 PSI but in 3rd, it wont break 10.

Anyone know if there are max boost levels per gear?

I read on RL somewhere that boost pressure is determined by environmental factors like how far off sea level you are. I don't recall what my base gets to but it is certainly above 10 in 3rd. If I have time, I will wring mine out tomorrow and will let you know what I see...just because I want to be helpful

So was not able to really go at it but I was easily able to hit 13psi in 3rd and I am pretty certain I hit 15. Was too busy trying unsuccessfully to get my phone to record to capture that. That said 100% certain on 13 - I am at sea level with cool temps in the 60's. I am going on a drive on Sunday and will be better prepared to record it, if you need.

Keep in mind that you have to be driving the car reasonably hard to see boost pressure. The 3.0-liter engine is not small for a car of the 991's weight so even during brisk normal driving, you can develop plenty of power without getting into turbo boost. I'm sure the car can easily exceed 100 mph without any boost pressure. However, if you floor the throttle and hold it for several seconds at 3000 rpm, you should see the boost build fairly quickly.
