Default 991.2 Carrera Spark Plug Replacement

Does anyone have a service manual or know how involved it is to replace the spark plugs on a 2017 Carrera? Dealer quoted me $2400 for 30k maintenance which basically just involves oil (which I do myself) cabin filters, and spark plugs I believe.. just curious if anyone out here has done it yet... Thanks!!

Is the spark plug service interval on the .2 different than the .1? On the 991.1 it's 4 years/40,000 miles.....so you may not be due yet.

I'm surprised to see that the 991.2 service recommendations includes spark plugs listed at 4 years 30 thousand miles in this document. USA is a B market country btw. It seems they both lowered the miles per year number and the spark plug interval.

I'm surprised to see oil changes at every 20k miles or 2 years too. I don't think that is right.

So it's every 30,000 km or 45,000 mi or 4 years, per that document.

It's hard to believe plugs burn out at those intervals with today's electronic ignitions and plug coils. Replacement of plug coils is not mentioned.

In a possibly related case, my 991.1 C2S did get an engine CEL at about 2.5 years 8,000 miles. My service advisor told me it was the #5 plug (my recollection) but they were not sure whether it was the plug or the plug coil, so they replaced both under warranty.

Is it possible Porsche was seeing high warranty replacements, and shortened the interval for "plug" replacement?
Does plug replacement include/require plug coil replacement?

My USA based manual states every 30000 miles or 4 years for plug replacement.
Less mileage than I was expecting.

Have to remove the some turbo piping ( the plastic outlet u turn) and the heat shields to get to the plugs.

That's correct. Turbocharged engines go through spark plugs faster than naturally aspirated ones.

As mentioned above, it's the addition the turbos which probably attributed to the lower mileage interval.

Correct. From what I understand, it’s the same interval as the Turbo/Turbo S model for interval. 30k which I’m approaching soon. I have removed turbo piping in the past but it seems deeper than that, almost like tucked between the frame and engine. If he quoted me roughly $2500 and assuming roughly $400 for the oil change and ~$100 for cabin filter replacements then almost $2000 for plugs seems high to me if it’s anything like replacement on the 991.1. ive searched all over but can’t seem to find any info on the 991.2 plug replacement yet.

they probably figure that most folks won't diy and will pay whatever they ask because of this. Another good reason for a lift like a quick jack or something similar.

The B market classification for the USA is thanks to our franchise dealerships' pressure, as you can imagine the conditions in the USA are actually quite benevolent unlike the rest of the B countries.

That being said short spark plug intervals are back (and Porsche is on the front of the pack in shortness), manufacturers first shortened because of DFI and now further reduction due to DFI + turbos.
High performance engines now have 30 or 40k and mid performance engines around 50k.

Does anyone know what the plug part number is for the 991.2 or did they just carry over the plug from the 991.1? Hope we can eventually find out the Bosch part number and obtain them from the aftermarket.
