Default Proper Battery Tender hook-up on 991.2

Given that winter is here in the Northeast I will not be driving my Carrera T very much. I am planning to hook-up one of my existing Deltran Battery Tenders to maintain the battery.

I plan to aligator clip direct to the battery. Safe to connect the negative directly to the negative terminal of the battery or should I connect to the body for ground?

i know that a lot of members have the Porsche AKA: CTEK charger which also can connect to the cigarette lighter socket but I prefer to use one of the Battery Tenders which I already own. My Battery Tenders are intelligent and support AGM batteries which I believe is the type of Battery Porsche installs from the factory.

Thanks.

Battery Tender (Deltran) has a cigarette lighter adapter that will make life simple.

I connected the negative terminal to the strut (Driver-side) with an eye-connector and spare nut.

Grounding to strut bolt

I have the exact same connection as Sidvicious7 and it works perfect. I make sure to charge my battery once per week even if I'm using the car everyday. When I'm out traveling, it stays connected the whole time.

Driver's side? Maybe I am not looking at the correct place? And where do you have it exiting?

I’d like to see the same, I was going to run the CTEK wire under the passenger door and connect to interior outlet however, I’d like to see clearer pics of one connected to battery with wire through opening of frunk around pass side wiper area.

Is there a reason to use the body ground instead of the battery (-) post?

I used a Deltran and wired it to battery posts and have connect wire coming into luggage area under plastic cover for quick hook up. Had problem with negative terminal- never saw one like it and was bitch to loosen.
Also I disconnect trunk light so I can leave it partially open.

Good point! With lead acid batteries there is always a potential risk of an explosion due to hydrogen gases. However, our vehicles come with a sealed AGM battery and it appears the risk has been (possibly) eliminates. To expand further, there is always the possibility some batteries may fail (leaking gases) and present the risk of an explosive incident. I always side on “Safety First” and will continue to follow my training and that covered in the Porsche manual.

I hooked it up to the battery terminals directly then I ran the cable up through the notch. I can close the trunk completely. I may end up putting a cigarette lighter adapter on it.

My charger has been hooked up to the battery the same way for the past 15 months without issue.

Thanks for this, I wanted one with a power plug and this combined with their charger is perfect.
