So how does the charger cable exit the vehicle?

And you do this every time you park?

This thread has become quite comical, there’s several methods used by RL members, the OBD method being the least utilized and certainly the most criticized. Use what works and what’s most convenient for “you”. I use the center console port, my CTEK is mounted on the wall with all cables attached and wrapped around a wall mounted holder, I walk around to the passenger side, grab the cable, plug it in from passenger door side, allowing the cable to run loosely over the footwell, I close the door and I’m done, This isn’t rocket science, it’s simple and it’s proven to work. For safety measures, I place the portion of wire that exits the passenger door under a mat to prevent anyone from tripping while walking by the car.

You can say that again, especially when someone mentions "risks" but does not back it up with anything, talking about "shorts", "flopping cables", etc. Imagine, 4 pages on something so utterly simple.

how did you connect the negative cable to the grounding point. I have a new 992. Haven’t really looked at the grounding point yet to determine best way to permanently connect but any advice is welcomed.

Mine it's a 991.2 but should be the same for the 992. Works like a charm....

Thanks, looks pretty easy, i think in the 992 the grounding point is driver size and battery is passenger side but just means using a longer wire to the grounding point.

In the 991.2 the "official" grounding point is also on the drivers side but the service manager from my local dealer told me to connect it to any point where it could go to ground. That's why I decided to connect as you see in the picture and no problems so gar (after almost 2 years). Should be the same for the 992

Just as you would connect the red positive cable to the + of the battery, connect the black negative cable to the - of the battery. How simple is that. Besides, I want to charge the battery directly.

Hopefully not like those in the book I am reading, "Comeback, The Fall and Rise of the American Automotive Industry". I read DeLorean's book "On A Clear Day You Can See GM" more than a decade before it came out and it seems nothing changes at the Big Three. Then we had the massive buyouts just over ten years ago.

Talk about the most useless and grossly overpaid CEOs and upper level management at those companies. Little wonder why I don't drive a GM, Ford or Chrysler, plus I have worked on them for friends. What utter garbage!

Default 991.2 Battery Tender Connections to Battery Terminals

Nice connection! I also like to connect directly to the battery, yet prefer to go directly to both the Positive and Negative battery terminals to avoid any other electronics.

I simply used two M6-1.0 Stainless Steel nuts (77 cents @ Home Depot) and piggybacked the existing connector threads....... Used a little removable thread locker and snugged them down.

Just watched this video

It says to always jumpstart and to never hook up battery chargers to the negative battery terminal and instead use the negative grounding post by the driver's side of the car.

I have a Ctek trickle charger. Do you think this applies to it? I use the quick connect adapter and the positive terminal and the grounding post are too far apart to reach. I have been using the charger for about a year and nothing seems to be wrong with hooking it to the negative bettery post but who knows?

The official terminal by the driver side ofmthe car is too far for the ctek quick connect adapter to reach. Any suggestions? Extension cable? How would you attach to the grounding terminal?

If attaching tomthe strut, anyone know the size of the nut I would have to buy?
