2014 TT or 2017 4S
I’m trying to decide between a 2014 TT or a 2017 4S, either one will be a cabriolet, and both are similar costs. I’ve driven a 2015 TTS and fell in love, have not driven the 20174s. For those who have driven both, how different are they? The real world 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times are very quick for the 4s. I’m avoiding a TTS due to concern of servicing the carbon ceramic breaks. This will just be a fun car for me, no tracking. Thanks for any thoughts.

I had a "sort of" similar situation. I began looking for a 2015 TT off Lease car and after looking and assessing over and over again, wound up with a new 2018 Targa GTS. First new car I've purchased in 30 years. When I totaled the final monthly payments, I found that they weren't that different and I'm really happy with my decision. Totally crazy over the new car.

BTW that would be a very, very tough decision for me. I usually default to newer with a warranty but the '14 would only be 3 years older, pretty close in age and still pretty new (and maybe under a CPO warranty). Tough call. Condition, mileage would also be a factor for me.

Get the TTS with PCCB, I don't see any reason to get the TT. As was mentioned above, if you don't track the car you'll never have to worry about servicing the brakes. You'll actually have less expenses with the PCCBs than the steel brakes.

If you like the wing, then the TT. If the wing doesn't mean a lot to you and you do not plan to drive in Winter or often in the rain, get a C2S Cab for less. Add the X51 PowerKit for peanuts and full warranty. Probably at less cost than the C4S Cab, but more power and torque.

My progression has been 991.1 Turbo S --> 991.2 GTS (because of the manual) --> 991.2 GT3 Touring. I loved how much more engaging the GTS was for me, as was the RWD spec. There was something about the dampers in the GTS also that felt a little bit less crashy over rough roads. There was definitely more sound in the GTS but it had a sort of muffled, induction noise-y quality to it because of the additional sound symposers that I think are missing in the Turbo and Turbo S (could be wrong). The Turbo obviously didn't sound as good but it did seem like it sounded a bit cleaner and more authentic, like it embraced the fact that it was reminiscent of a Dyson vacuum cleaner plugged into a 220V outlet, haha. Also, there was just something about how the powertrain and torque delivery made me feel borderline invincible that was lacking in the GTS. I'm not calling the GTS slow by any means, it's just hard knowing that the proper Turbo is pretty spectacular when it came to acceleration and outright speed.
It's dependent on your priorities. I wanted the GTS to feel closer to the GT3 but it would have never gotten there. So unless I was able to go all the way towards that, the GTS felt like a (very small) step down. Still, a step down nonetheless.
Both are *great* though
