it's nice to see a technical discussion in these forms for the 991 instead of the usual.

thank you, tampa991.

Default oil changes

So out of curiosity how would this work I mean you send them back empty oil cans and the old filter ?

You put your old oil in the new empty cans and old filter in the box and mail it back.

Having owned a couple BMWs and now my Porsche, I have NEVER successfully removed sensors from the old pads without breaking them. There must be a trick I just can't figure out, but now I just order new sensors every time and rip the old ones out without a care in the world which shortens the time it takes to do the job and is less stressful.

Don’t bother with them, zip tie them to the axle and monitor your pads manually.

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that.

That's what I did. My understanding is as long as the dash light isn't on it won't come on in the future.

If you get the Spiegler brake line kit, this will give more flexibility and room to move the caliper about.

https://apexperformance.net/product/...ar-6-line-kit/

and since bolts are suppose to be one time use, replace them with GiroDisc or tarett stud kits to make next job easier.

Yes, but they usually break trying to get them out of the pad so I just cut the wires and spliced them together and threw some electrical tape around them before tying them back. You complete the circuit which eliminates the warning light.

With decades of Pcars in my past you are mostly spot on. For the puck type I'm maybe around 60% successful in reusing them but even if I break an ear off I stick them in the pad backing plate anyway and never had an issue. For the sword type that the later 996's used it was easy to pull the sword from the pad. Not sure which type is on my new to me 991 but will know soon. I'm pretty cheap though so my bet is they are going back in, one way or another

I ordered a set of brake sensors from Pelican when I replaced my pads. I was informed by the sales rep at Pelican the cheaper set of sensors are maded by the same company that brands the more expensive senors with the Porsche name. Also, the longer your sensors are on your brake pads the material becomes more brittle with time due to the high temperature cycles on the pads.

Brake Sensor end of story...regardless of the what happens to the sensor itself when it is removed ...standard procedure - cut, splice, and tape the wire, then zip tie it to the axle...and order pads and discs from FCP Euro so you don’t have to pay for brake parts again (as long as you are ok with Porsche parts).

You guys getting new rotors should also buy some quality high temp paint, and coat the hats and vent fins.
