Default Blackvue behind Blendmount

Hi All,

I just got a Blackvue camera and will be installing tomorrow but I want to mount it behind the mirror as this gives the best overall view. My concern is that I will eventually be getting a radar detector (likely Uniden) and want to use the blendmount. Does anyone know if the Blendmount will work if the Blackvue is mounted on the windshield behind the mirror?

Thanks!

I don't know why it would not. The Blendmount connects to the mirror stem, Blackvue to the windshield. I would suggest you mount the Blendmount first and then the Blackvue so that there are no surprises.

I'm working through this scenario right now. I have the Uniden R3 and Blendmount. There is barely enough room to mount the Blackvue. If you remove the radar detector, the mount metal release tab pushes up against the dashcam. I either need to find another location or bend the Blendmount. When put in this spot you have a lot of electronics in view under the mirror, not sure I like it. I'm debating another location. Also, can't figure out where to put the battery!

Thanks Gents! That is not good on the blendmount - I've heard folks say that putting the radar detector there can be distracting, probably more so with a camera behind it. After playing with the camera, it really does have a much nicer view when placed in the center. What to do...

That's a different Blendmount version. The Uniden model has a different design.

Was just what I was going to say. I am going to give the blendmount folks a call to see if they have any ideas.

I have my Black Vue cam attached to the windshield and a blenmount for my V1. This is a great setup. I can send you photos of it if you like.

Thanks - I think the challenge is with the blendmount for Uniden radar detectors, there is not really enough space. Not sure I want to switch up radar detectors for this.

Here's a pick of my "advanced"

rubber band mount to show you what I mean. It's not impossible to mount the Blackvue in this spot, but you have to adjust the Blendmount a lot or bend the part you push to relieve tension on the radar for removal.

Thanks. What is the purpose of the rubber band? Doesn't seem like a lot of tension so I am not sure. It does look "advanced" though. If I just have to bend the mount a bit, I can probably live with that as long as it is still secure.

I was kidding. Rubber band was just in place to temporarily hold it. I wanted to show the clearance and I'm not ready to stick it in this location.

I'm going to put it up - worst case is I have to move it later. Hopefully not too difficult to get that stick tape off the windshield

Here is my BV and RD mount setup. RD mount is a cheapo ebay one (cheap in price, but not functionality) that is infinitely adjustable. You don't need expensive. No obstructions and I do not see the BV from driver seat as the mirror hides it. Works great. Note that I modified the mount for my particular needs. Works great.
