Who is buying a 911 of any type betting it will be a collectible? The 918 crowd that gets first dibs on new short run models, 911R, have the best shot and most don't drive them.
It's a car, it's a car! Buy Tiffany lamps or rare art if your hope is to cash in before death. Enjoy the car.
Or is the motivation for the original post to convince yourself you have a rare exotic car that others will lust for and envy you.?

Very few if any of the 991s will be truly collectible. And most owners will not keep them long enough for that to happen. But the timing of that will likely coincide with govt mandated econobox electric cars. The disappearance of Petro fuels will destroy any collectibilty of the 991s. Welcome to the greenie future! Forget collectibility and enjoy what you have today.

I also think that since all future 991s will be wide-body, that the 991.1 4S (and Targa 4S) will be one of the most sought-after 911s (along with the 991.1 GTS). I just based a purchase decision of that belief - not that I think I'll make money on it one day, but that it will be easy to sell if and when I decide to part with it.

Wondering if with the outgoing 991 and incoming 2020 992 if anyone thinks that the 2019 991.2 will likely hold value better and destined to become a desired collector 911 ? I’m in the market to buy new and debating on 2019 vs. waiting for the 2020 ? Thoughts are appreciated
In the meantime (for the next 30+ years) if the model does nothing to elevate itself (star vehicle in a movie...hit TV Show... consecutive dramatic race titles in it's class, etc...) I'll enjoy picking these up for a song as you people intent on putting these in a garage, realize all that depreciation.
And even after 30 years. If still drivable and in great shape (expensive and not easy to do), my bet is I would get yours for less than MSRP. Especially a .2 vintage.
So please...go ahead and put it on blocks and in the garage. Please use a heated garage that's environmentally controlled. And keep up with the yearly maintenance. Don't let moisture accumulate in the crack. Keep the interior dry. And be sure to exercise the suspension once in a while.
Good Luck!

Goal :
Im going to pick up a 991.1 GTS CPO tail end of next year below 90K...
Thank you 992.
It always works like this.
You guys are like corvette owners thinking the 992 wont cause your car to depreciate same thing was said with the C7 vette and c6 owners.
I bought a 997.2 CPO year after the 991.1 was released having watch the 997.2s dip throughout the year..
Everyone thought the 997 would be "the one" to have just like you guys
Best time to buy
FYI did the same with the 991.1 to 991.2 switch CPO

Looks like 735 Carrera T in the USA. That is fairly low production. And there are only 73 of the Endurance Racing Weissach Edition in the USA with only several of those equipped with the PowerKit.

Unless it is special edition or GT series..
There is no way regular, S, T or GTS can be a collectors car... this is how it always has been and will be.
so Stop thinking and drive & enjoy your 911

Very few of the 991 series will be truly collectable - 911R, perhaps the GT3RS and the GT2RS.
The 991.1 GT3 is unlikely to be a collectable due to the dismal engine history and even the series 2 GT3 wasn't a limited run.
The rest are just vanilla carrera specs - whether it be a base model or TTS

Nothing but alot of opinions in here. Watch the auctions...when you begin seeing the selling price of 991s hold a few auctions, you'll know your close.
