Winter Tires Wow What a Difference
So I decided this winter I would buy a set of winter tires after a couple scares I had driving the Cup 2s during last winter. picked up a set of Michelin Pilot Alpins, got them put on yesterday morning and immediately it started raining. temperatures here are in the single digits Celsius and dipping below zero at nights. Car definitely feels more planted and just safe overall. I had some moments last winter with the cup 2s where the car would wobble under slippery surfaces and it took all confidence out of me at speed. This early morning, temperatures in the low single digits and still raining, I drove my wife to the airport 50km away. I'm sure it also has to do with a degree of peace-of-mind knowing I have winter tires on, but i was driving at a pretty good pace and at no time did the car feel unstable.
anyone on the fence about winter tires, i can tell you its totally worth it. I can't wait to try them once it starts actually snowing.

Dare I say there are times my PA4s feel better than my P Zero's...

Cup 2s in the winter? Code brown! Code brown!!
Seriously though, I run them on my car and they are basically rock hard and slippery as hell under 10C/50F. I cannot imagine driving in any cold/wet situations with Cup 2s as that is a recipe for trouble.
Good move on the PA4s, I run them in the winter and they are great.

Yup, winter tires rule (in winter conditions). I am always amazed by those who try to rationalize using summer tires in very cold, sleet, or snow conditions. Of course, I am also skeptical of "all season" tires on routine vehicles.

Getting my Sotto’s on tomorrow with the “cheap” OZ wheels from tire rack . Did the 19s . No PA4 19’s around. And with PA4 20’s could not find my OZ graphite color in stock for all four wheels. My summers are 20” Pzeros with the 11.5 Carrera S wheels in back. And did not want to stretch the 20 winters against manufacturers recommendation. So the 19” package should serve me well on Long Island nyc roads. Base Carrera coupe

Put my SottoZeros on a couple of weeks back, 20in with the Porsche rims, and yes just a ton of fun. First winter in the C4S and the car is winning the debate as a daily. Not sure if I got more crazy looks zipping past lesser equipped vehicles in the 911, or when we had the first day in like 30 with temps above freezing to give the car a proper wash in the driveway.
Only thing is, its going to take some getting use to the jackasses parking around me. As a daily its sometimes difficult to isolate oneself when parking.
