Default Carmine red, dark or no?

Hi,

I am currently contemplating on buying a used 911.2 4 GTS in carmine red.

The car is no where near where I live and I have yet to se a Porsche in carmine red in the flesh.

On pictures however I find it very hard to get a correct interpretation of the paint, on some pictures it looks very dark red and in some it looks very bright.

But how does it look in real life? Below is a picture stolen from the forum. The one above is guards red. Is the carmine red as dark as seen on the picture? Or is it lighter / darker?

The last picture is one from the dealer, on it the carmine red looks very light and bright.

Lighting of course plays a big role in how a color appears.
Your second picture is fairly accurate as to how Carmine red looks.....it's more cherry red then a bright red.
Personally, I think it's a fantastic color.
Hope these pics help.

It's a very pretty color in person, less orange than the OP's first pic.

Carmine Red is a darker red, as shown in your second photo. Personally, I think it’s a stunning color that I would choose over the lighter/brighter Guards Red.

I agree with the other posts - a dark, rich red that varies with lighting

Thank you for your replies, I have always been a grey/black car guy but I can get a good deal on the carmine red gts and therefore I am asking on how it looks in real life. I don't want a bright loud car.

Guards - tomato.
Carmine - lipstick.

Both are phenomenal.

I'll agree that Carmine is not quite as bold as Guards but don't think that a Carmine GTS is - in any way - subtle. You'll still see it from a mile away on the road. I really, really, had my heart set on Carmine but when I saw it in person I thought that - somehow - it just didn't look "right". A Chalk one parked right next to it looked much more "mature" - if you will.

In California, sooooo many cars are silver, gray, black or white. I'd say 80%. I just couldn't do it anymore so I went red. Really, really red. The 911 is timeless, so is Guards.

I've owned two Guards Red Porsche and love the color. There was a Carmine Red Targa in the Festivals of Speed show in Orlando and it was stunning. The two Porsche Reds i would describe as lipstick red are Amaranth Red Metallic and Impulse Red Metallic. I'm not fond of either of those, altho i owned an Impulse Red Metallic Macan Turbo for a while. I bought it new, unseen, because i got such a big discount on it during the fuel line recall parts shortage when the dealer needed to sell it and could not close till it was repaired in two months. Great car but not my Red.
My prediction is you will love Carmine Red. And yes, it's not as loud as Guards Red.

I have recently developed a love for Carmine Red. A little less bright than Guards Red.

When I replace my Agate Grey Targa GTS with a newer 911 it will almost certainly be Carmine Red if that color is on offer then. It will be a while before I'll be ready for a change, but I've learned to never say never around this topic!

I parked my Guards Red beside a Carmine. Makes the Carmine look almost Burgundy. Its a pretty cool color. Find one before you pull the trigger.

I looked at two recently and I think this pic is an accurate representation - which appears to be slightly between the two pics (the GTS and the dealer showroom) you posted.

My 911S is Guards Red....I like the Carmine. If they were both next to each other when I purchased would I have chosen the Carmine? It would have been a tough choice given everything else being equal.

Probably would have still bought the Guards....such a classic Porsche color....but the Carmine is beautiful.
