Like many of you, I wanted a Porsche long before I ever had one. In fact, I've aspired to own a 911 for 30 years now, and have seriously considered purchasing for the past 2 years. After months of searching, I pulled the trigger last night on my first Porsche - a 2014 991S. I was initially debating between a 997 and a 991 and was thinking that a 997 was the way I wanted to go. As forum members advised, I spent a few months driving different versions of each, and realized that the 991 was actually very different from the 997 (larger, more modern and "luxurious"). I drove manuals and PDKs, but ultimately decided to go with the PDK (to me 7 speeds in a manual is overkill). I've only had about an hour of seat time so far, but I'm loving it. Like many other forum members, I also have a young child, and I'm looking forward to getting her car seat in the back and letting her experience pure German engineering!
As they say, "pics or it didn't happen" - here's a couple of quick and dirty pics I took this morning.
Thanks to all on the forum for the advice over the years.
Like you, I dreamed of owning a 911 since they first were introduced. I finally took the plunge in 2014 after a 45 year wait. I truly think that it is most special to desire a car for a lifetime and finally take the plunge and realize the dream. BTW, I am on my 3rd since 2014 - making up for lost time.
Your car is beautiful, love the blue and tan. I wish you all the best in your new 911.
I just got back from a quick ride to brunch. I still had Toyos on, in the cold rain in the city today it's a bit extra wiggly, so much fun. These cars are really special. Gotta get those 991s while you still can, they're going down the wrong path.
