Default Trouble closing driver's door!!

Totally random this morning. About -3 degrees Centigrade here in the UK this morning. Frosty. No trouble opening driver's door... warming the car up... sort out bags into the trunk etc... then couldn't close the door on to the latch... bang... try again... bang... nothing... Anyway, after a bit of encouragement, it closed. Anyone had this before? Any insight about the best thing to do if it happens again?

Thanks.

Heat up the lock with a blow dryer and see if helps release the lock next time. Ice could have formed on the latch mechanism or lock lubricant could have thickened, affecting the movement of the latch as well.

I'd put a propane torch on that thing to speed up the thawing.

I'm sure he didn't "bang" the doors, just an expression (I hope).

It has always been a pet peeve of mine, closing car doors, use just enough force to engage the latch, don't just slam/bang the door. I have stopped someone from closing the doors of my cars and done it myself as I could see a "bang" on the way.

Everyone in the family got the "don't slam the door" speech after one occurrence. OCD I guess.
