Update...

We had a 991.2 Carrera T in last week to verify fitment. We have determined that our current front and rear AP Racing Competition Kits are a perfect fit, as are our 2-piece discs that work with the OEM calipers:

Front Brake Kit= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...mm-997-981-718

Rear Brake Kit= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...cp9449-365-997

Front 2-piece Discs= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...ir-35034-front

Rear 2-piece Discs= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...air-35028-rear

Please ignore my NSX...he photo-bombed the 911.

Here are our 2-piece J Hook discs with the OEM caliper.

New Road Brake Kits

A few months ago Essex became the exclusive North American distributor for all AP Racing products, including the line of calipers they consider their 'road' calipers. These calipers have a painted finish in red, black, or silver, and have dust boots for 4 season driving. We have designed a system that will allow 911 owners without a GT car to have a brake system more similar to the one found on the GT3/RS. Our system features an AP Racing Radi-CAL six piston front and four piston rear, mated to 380mm discs on both ends of the car (just like a GT3). They do a far better job of filling the wheels, and are befitting of a car like this. They will be completely civil on the street (no rattles, noise, etc.), but also capable of occasional track duty as well due to a huge increase in thermal capacity vs. the rather small OEM components. These kits are heading into production now and will be available about six weeks. We'll post more details soon! We're still working on the web pages for these kits, but click here to see the front kit we're releasing for the Supra next week. Our front kit for the 911 will be very similar.

Not terribly pretty, and you need to remove it from the car to change pads!

Much, much prettier, and pads can be changed by simply removing the two bridge bolts.

We did some more fitment testing on the 991.1 late last week, and the brake kits in links below fit the Carrera 2S, 4S, Targa 4S and GTS perfectly. We believe they will fit the base cars as well, but we haven't installed them on the base model yet. We will be updating our fitment applications on our website soon:

Front Competition Brake Kit= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...mm-997-981-718

Rear Competition Brake Kit= https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...cp9449-365-997

Our upcoming Road Kits with the red, black, or silver painted calipers and 380mm front and rear discs will fit the 991.1 cars as well. Please contact us if you're interested in any of these products.

We also verified that our 2-piece J Hook Disc Kits will fit the 991.1 Carrera 2S, 4S, Targa 4S and GTS, but they will require a different size spacer which we are working on now. If you own a 991.1 and are interested in these discs, we should be shipping them in a few weeks.

What’s this about a road kit? Do you guys have more details on it? What’s the big difference between the road kit and competition kit?

Hi,
Our front AP Racing Radi-CAL Road Kit is live on our website, and we're working on the web page for the rear. Both the front and rear use 380mm discs, and they fill the wheels up beautifully. Although AP technically calls it a 'Road' Kit, it's perfectly capable of handling the occasional track beating. The discs are extremely stout, and the volume of the pads is very large. They will hold up well to anything thrown at them.

Below is a link to a page that examines the difference between our Road and Competition Kits. How you plan to use your car will determine which product category best suits your unique needs. If you lean more heavily towards track use and not as much road use, the Competition Kits are the correct choice. If you drive your car mostly on the street but like to occasionally flog it on the track, the Road Kits are likely your best fit. Most people will fit somewhere between the extreme track user and the pure road user. The guide below will help you determine which type of kit is your correct choice:

https://www.essexparts.com/big-brake...-right-for-you

The front Road Kit leverages a six piston and the rear uses a four piston. Here's the full front listing on our website:

https://www.essexparts.com/essex-des...91-997-718-981

The production run of the Road Kits is in process currently and should be ready for delivery in about six weeks. Please contact us if you'd like to pre-order a set.

Please note that these pics show prototype disc hats. The production version will be black hard anodized and laser-etched like the ones in our Competition Kits.

Essex/AP Racing Black Friday 2019 Sales Event!

We'd like to share some exciting news with all of our Porsche friends. For the first time ever, Essex will be offering a substantial discount on our complete line of AP Racing Brake Kits! If you place a brake kit order with us between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you’ll receive 10% off. This offer is valid on our complete line of Competition Brake Kits, 2-piece J Hook Disc Kits, and our newly released AP Racing by Essex Road Brake Kits. While 10% may not initially sound like much compared to some of the bloated, bait-and-switch discount offers you’ll see this holiday season, it equates to over $1,000 in total savings on some of our larger front/rear applications!

We’ve fortunately never been in a position where we’ve needed to discount our brake kits, and to be quite honest, we’re still not. However, as awareness about our brake solutions has grown, we’ve been receiving more and more requests for some type of special sales event. We figured Black Friday was as good a time as any to have a go at it, so here we are. Hopefully this event makes owning one of our kits a possibility for those of you who have been patiently waiting for the right moment to take the plunge. We have no plans to make this an annual ‘thing’, nor do we anticipate offering this type of savings anytime again in the foreseeable future. In summary, get ‘em while the gettin’s good!

Additionally, we’ll be offering 10% off on all AP Racing Brake Fluids, with no limit on the purchase quantity. So be sure to grab some fresh fluid to go along with your shiny new brake kit.

Finally, our physical office location will be closed on Friday, but online orders will be available. We'd encourage you to please place your order online, and if you need any assistance we'll be sure to lend a helping hand when we're back in the office on Cyber Monday. If you have any questions beforehand, feel free to contact us at 704-824-6030 or sales@essexparts.com

Thank you very much for your continued support, and please be sure to share this info with all of your car buddies!

Hello Gents,

We've been receiving lots of questions about both our Road and Competition Kits, so I wanted to post some more pics and info about our systems. First, here are some recent client pics of our systems installed:

991.2 C2S with our Black Road Kit installed...rather stealth/subtle looking it that's your preference:

992 C4S with a Road Kit..this time with red calipers for a little more visual punch:

Lizard Green 991 GT3. This one has our Competition Kit tucked behind some beautiful Forgelines (which we also offer if you'd like some wheels to cover your brakes):

A few more client car shots from the past few weeks...these all have our Competition Kit front and rear:

Professional racer Seth Thomas catching some air in his 3RS at Road Atlanta.

Gentian Blue 718 Cayman GT4 with a fresh Competition Kit install:

C8 Corvette for color reference..and just because it's a cool new car!

Update...

We just lowered the price of our 2-piece AP Racing J Hook discs that work with the OEM calipers! We've been implementing our 350mm AP Racing 2-piece J Hook Discs on more and more Porsche chassis and our user base continues to grow. As such, we're now starting to realize some economies of scale that we can pass along as savings to our customers. We're pleased to announce that we are reducing the price of our front and rear 350mm J Hook Porsche discs for the foreseeable future. The affected disc pairs below that used to carry a retail price of $1,498 will now be $1,298 per pair. While our J Hook discs have always been considered the benchmark in miles per dollar, they now represent an even greater value!

We also offer Ferodo pads for the street and track, AP Racing fluid, Spiegler Stainless Steel Brake Lines, and of course the complete AP Racing Road and Competition Brake Kits.

You can see our full menu of brake solutions here (Carrera T shown here, but you can search your own year/make/model to see what we have):
https://www.essexparts.com/my-vehicl...0T/Iron%20disc

What do our Porsche customers think about their AP Racing J Hooks?

Porsche 991 GT3 owner- "These rotors were first on my GT3 then on my GT3RS, and we had 2 drivers on them for 2 summers. That equates to 70 track days at Mont-Tremblant...Lots of the sessions were back-to-back 20-25 min sessions, so 40-50 minutes straight with just a quick driver change in the middle. These rotors were used with Hoosier R7 and Pirelli DH slicks. Just a great combo!"

Porsche 981 GT4 owner- "I've been happily running the Essex/AP Racing rotor on my Cayman GT4 for a few years now. The reason I'm reaching out is that my current front rotors have seen 23 days at Circuit of the Americas running in the advanced student and instructor run groups...My dilemma is that 23 track days intuitively seems like a lot for a single set of rotors, and yet your article seems to suggest that they may yet have a fair amount of life in them."

Porsche 991.2 GTS owner- "This brake setup was amazing on the track. 0 Fade, 0 heat issues, smooth stopping, good bite. Just all around perfect upgrade! Highly recommend getting these rotors for an upgrade!”

For the Base/T cars, is 350mm the biggest rotor option we have with keeping the stock calipers for the front? Wondering if we can do something bigger with a bigger spacer for the caliper? Honestly-just looks a bit small with such a large wheel...
