Default 1-3" of snow - take the 4S?

I've got a long weekend planned for next weekend - headed from NJ to the Berkshires in MA. The current forecast shows 1-3" of snow falling exactly when I'm planning on being on the road.

I've got a 991.1 4S and literally brand new Sottozeros. Do I take the 911 or my FWD 2006 Audi A3 on all-seasons? Anything more than 4" or so, I think I'd bail to the Audi for the ground clearance, but what do you think?

I ran my 997.2 C4S on those same tires, and also had a mk5 GTI. The C4S is a great snow car if you have the right tires, which you do. C4S all the way!

When I say "literally brand new Sottozeros" I really mean it. They currently have zero miles on them. I'm putting them on the car this weekend. Will they work sub-optimally until they have a few hundred miles?

My experience with brand new blizzak snows is they are fine off the shelf.
Not so much with new summer or R comps

You will have better traction than 90% of things on the road in a 4S on sottozeros. Unless you have some back roads unplowed planned, you will be fine.

I envy the 4 folks with snow and the right tire. Please take the 4, for us dreamers.

4S for sure. I drive mine year around and it eats up snow in the 1-3 range with winters shoes on. You can still have some fun juicing it a bit to get the *** end to cut loose a little before the nannies flip more power to the front.

4S - that's why you got the Sottozeros, right? Drove my previous car (2011 4S) year around in Iowa with Michelin Pilot Alpins and loved (almost) every minute of it! Have a blast !!!

LOL. It was almost 14 years ago and I was in a different financial position then. I honestly can't remember a time when I was driving it thinking to myself, "Oh man, I wish this thing was 4WD!” It's been a solid car all year round. We haven't had the need to drive it much these last few years, though, because it's our 3rd car.

This is the only reason to take the Audi over the Porsche. Keep in mind that even though it might snow > 4 inches most roads get plowed pretty quickly in New England (at least the main roads). So if you can give the road crews time to do their job, you'll probably be okay in any case. Besides, you're talking a week from now - the weather forecast will change three times between now and then.
