A3, why take the chance?! You have plenty of time to drive the 4S in better conditions. Rain is one thing but snow, and possible ice in spots, is not worth the risk, especially on the long trip. Since you are asking I think you know the answer: take it out and play first in a parking lot of drive around town in some snow. And I learned how to drive in the snow, and I remember my '69 Catalina Convertible, which was my first car, in Buffalo NY, and I drove it all winter and drinking & driving back then was something more did than didn't, but I digress.

4S. But drive it at least once to test it out.
Regarding new tires. If its still dry outside warm it up and give it the beans around the block a few times with acceleration braking and cornering. See how they feel. This will remove alot of the compound they use to remove the tire from the mold. The manufacturers say 300 miles of easy acceleration braking etc but i would want to at least get some contact patch down to rubber before they see snow.

I'm sure you've all been on the edge of your seats...
I took the 911. We all got way more snow than we expected, but luckily it was 24 hours before I had to leave and it was cleaned up pretty well. By the time I left NJ the streets were dry and by the time I got to the Berkshires, their streets were wet but clear. No incidents, nothing to really report.
Thanks for your input last week!
