Default Battery Charger Question

I want to make sure I'm using this correctly on a car I picked up this week.
Just plugged it into an outlet and then plugged into the cigarette lighter.
It initially showed the power light on and I then pushed the "mode" button until it toggled to the "car" icon lighting up ?
Anything else I need to know ?

Had the same question and couldn't find an answer so, let me help..

YES. Just plug it in, toggle to the car icon and leave it alone. The top icon will eventually flash between the charge and trickle once its full..

Most instructions seem to indicate plug first into the car outlet, toggle to car icon on charger, then plug into power outlet.

That means you can’t leave it plugged into the wall outlet and each time you reconnect you have to connect two things.
Kind of a pain.
What happens if it’s plugged into the wall first and then the cigarette lighter ?

Check youtube for this.

you need to plug it in the car first and then outlet. That seems to be important

then change mode to car.

Hium. I’ve been plugging into the outlet first, then into the car lighter. Then selecting the car option on the charger.

My guess is that its more of a safety recommendation....in case you plug it into the wall outlet, then accidentally drop it into a pail of water.

Also lock your car so the charger can cycle as designed...

I have two Porsches on maintainers. After driving out of the garage with each car while still plugged in, I ordered red "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" tags, and attach them to the keys with a carabiner. When not attched to the keys, they are on a small wall hook next to the charger.

Mine goes from wall outlet into into 12v socket through open driver's window. Impossible to drive out while unplugged

I made a slip noose type knot in the charger cable that I hang around the shifter when connecting it to the footwell socket. It makes a good tactile and visual reminder...

"Impossible" and never are two words I recoil from! My appetite for crow is at most infrequent...
