How loud is the 991.2 GTS 4, really?
Hi all, this is my first post, so go easy on me. I'm debating buying a 2019 911 GTS4, but I am concerned about the noise it makes when I start it and as a daily driver, not to mention the possibility of getting kicked off the track for exceeding noise limits.
Right now I drive an M3 (with standard exhaust) and I find it pretty loud every time I start it. I know the GTS is significantly louder. I know this is extremely subjective, but can anyone offer real world experience? As well, has anyone found any solutions that can reduce the noise generated (I really don't want to be the guy in the neighborhood that wakes everyone up every morning when i start my car)?

It's not too loud at all. Although, a buddy of mine (who owns a Ferrari 458) told me that it sounded great when I passed him.
That said, I've put on Soul cats in order to help crank up the volume a bit.

Definitely not loud stock. If you want it quieter for when you're out driving you can turn off the sports exhaust and close the valves, but even that won't be necessary. There's no way this car would ever exceed any track noise limits in stock form. Even my car with Akra sport cats and exhaust wouldn't get close. If you want loud you want a GT3 with a catless race exhaust, not a turbo car like the 991.2 GTS.

911s are loud cars compared to most, and the GTS has PSE. They are not as loud as NA cars with big displacement engines. You cant make it any quieter than stock as far as I know.
Having said that, I made mine louder... lol.
My neighbors say its still much better than my Macan turbo with straight pipes and stock cats. That thing was LOUD. It sounded like a bear was getting it on with a tiger.

Compared with other (Porsche) sportscars, the 991.2 (GTS) is not particularly loud. 981 Cayman GTS is much louder. But compared with oridinary cars, in a residential area / neigbourhood, during early morning cold starts, of course this car will be loud. Turning off PSE won’t do much in that department. I actually keep PSE on when it’s stationary and when I am driving it in and out of my garage because the specific sound with PSE off seems even more intrusive. On the gas it’s a completely different story of course, PSE is much louder especially in sport modus. Let’s just say, I only use it as a weekend car but if my direct neighbor daily drove his GTS I am not sure if I would be that happy. Of course depends on how far away your neigbours are at. ;-)

Ditto. I found the GTS too quiet in the cabin. You get a little disconnected from the power and speed. Soul Cats cured that and are Goldilocks just right between stock and too loud. Best description is almost NA in sound.

Definitely not too loud.
Just took delivery of a 2019 Targa 4 GTS yesterday and I'm somewhat disappointed in the civility of the exhaust note even with PSE on.
Of course I am used to a 430 Scuderia and 488 GTB with vacuum lines disconnected but even so I would have liked it to be a little more engaging.
Looking for my best options with minimal effort.
