The 450 Hp 3.0 GTS 7:24 Nordschleife lap time beats the Carrera GT, 997 GT2, 991.1 TS, and the 997 TS, in that order, with the GT at 7:28 and the 997 TS at 7:37. Amazingly fast!!
The factory test team said just the addition of RAS and PDCC dropped the GTS lap time 30 seconds! My recollection is the 991's are over 100 lbs lighter than the comparable 997's.

A C2S turned 7:33.67, faster than the 997 TS. Im assuming it had 420 Hp with the Sport Pkg and PDCC. I bought a loaded C2S and added the X51 PowerKit. Some guys are going the tune route, but I'm playing it safe on mine for a few years. Id go the same route if in your shoes, but that's just me Different strokes for different folks...

Honestly I feel like my 991.2 GTS is much more special and a TON more fun to drive than my 997TT. My tuned GTS also feels a lot faster than my tuned 997TT.

+1 for 3Series. I'll always be sorry for selling my 997.1 TT, but I'm really happy I got the 991.2. I feel your quandary

Between the two listed, both of which are great cars, it would come down to which car is closer to my preferred configuration for that model. Whichever is closer to 991.2S coupe with 7MT, SPASM, sport wheel, and sport seats or 997.2 Turbo coupe 6MT with sport seats and/or other enticements would get my vote.

If I found both of the above, and assuming both were in color combos I liked, I'd probably go 991.2S—mainly for the powerband characteristics but also for the handling and other updates. YMMV, of course...

Don't get seduced by the difference in power/tq of the two cars. The improved chassis and overall handling characteristics of the 991 generation makes the 991.2 C2S the no-brainer decision in this choice.

Interesting. Why aren't they the same price then? Shouldn't the TTS be cheaper if it is not the better car? It certainly isn't collectible, as they are readily available used.

I hear what you are saying, however. I used to own a 991 C2S and how have a 997.2 C2S. The differences are quite significant. The 991 is more capable, more aggressive, and more refined. The 997 is a bit more raw, looks more old-school somehow (good or bad, depending on who is looking), has a better gearbox, and doesn't depreciate!

I find the comparison between the TTS and 991.2 C2S that are more or less identical in performance, but very different platforms (as originally designed) to be interesting. Much more so than, say a 997.2 C2S vs a 991.1 C2S, which is an evolution of the same platform. The sense I get here is that most people prefer newer, if performance is similar in both cars.

I think just looking at the current price of the two cars is only telling half the story.

The 997 TTS started off life with a higher base MSRP (something like 163K, give or take a few 1k), whereas the 991.1 C2S started off life with a lower base MSRP of something like 93K (give or take a few 1K).

So now if both cars are trading in/around 90k it would mean that the 997 TTS has suffered significantly greater depreciation than the 991, which would (I think) reflect the prowess of both cars vis-a-vis one another.

^ Good advice, if driving is what matters to the OP.

^ Also agree, and there are more variables, such as timeline for depreciation (991.2 is still a current model, and a number of years newer...997.2 Turbo is 2010's news) and "Turbo mystique" (for some).

I have zero, and I genuinely mean zero, regrets choosing a 991.2 Carrera over a 991.1 Turbo.

Yes, a base 991.2 over a 991.1 Turbo.

Zero regrets.

For modern that is up to date and a lot of daily driving use, get the 991.1 S.

Instead of the 997, get something unique like the 996 Turbo S 6MT Coupe which is a very rare car or a 2003/2004 GT2. Will drive very similar to the 997.

Interesting question. Im a new to Porsche owner with a 2017 CS. I thought I wanted an older, maybe 997 Turbo. Looking at the 991.2 S performance specs and price caused me to rethink my approach. One test drive sealed the deal. No regrets with a little t turbo. One person's experience.....

Sounds like I would get smoked by a 991.2 GTS from a standing start. Not.
But the GTS is a nice car.

I like newer. New technology. Warranty. Will take longer to look old.

Quick Reply: If you had $100k: used 991.2 C2S or 997.2 TurboS?
