KBB says Android Auto standard in 2019 991.2
Have a read. KBB claims Android Auto is standard in 2019 991.2. Do we think they have this right or wrong?

If true, Porsche needs to update earlier 991.2 software for Android. Maybe nobody previously told Porsche - 83% of the world's smart phones are Android...

I don't think that it is true ... KBB reviewer likely just making an assumption about Android given Apple CarPlay is available. Certainly no existing 2019 owner on Rennlist has chimed in with such news. BTW, I hope that they are right.

I was once told by my dealer that Porsche did a small study on smartphone use among customers...apparently revealed that ~90% of customers use Apple products. That is why they don't bother with Android Auto.

Just look at the below thread about”retro fitting for CarPlay”

Unless support for Android has already crept into other models, I can't imagine it will be seen first in the 911. Android phones may be the vast majority of phones in use in the world but I do understand that compatibility issues of Android variants with a car application is a headache to support.
I'm guessing carplay may be an exclusive product placement by Apple, which is all well and good as I can believe the US has a bigger iphone share than the rest of the world. I don't believe 90% of Porsche owners use them, purely statistically it's a big stretch.

A '19 C4S is on order and would love to have Android Auto, not really an Apple adherent.
Not seen any indications that Android system will be added.
I will be changing over to Apple from an ancient Samsung S4 (which works fine and has easy battery access for swapping) when the exact delivery date is confirmed. Who knows, maybe something will change by the first of the new year.

I thought that it wasn’t any kind of technical issue that stopped Porsche using AA, just that they didn’t agree with Google’s privacy policy regarding the data going back and forth...?

BMW and Toyota were also no bueno on Google, Toyota added Android support just this year.
I switched from Android to iOS last month (after the data breach, Dragonfly, and the empty chair in Congress, I had enough of Google.) The integrated vehicle services in CarPlay are nice and having maps and streaming accessible in the infotainment display is nice. I had a data sim in my GTS and already had integrated streaming, so the benefit there is negligible but I did find that the car sends *a lot* of data over the data connection even when I wasn’t using any services. That could be an issue if you bump up on a data limit and get throttled. Integrated maps is a plus. I pulled the data sim and now use CarPlay but one thing I would really like is a Bluetooth connection instead of having to plug it in to the car.

My understanding is that Apple doesn't certify (as of yet) any wireless implementations for CarPlay ... it has to be done over a certified USB wired connection. I learned this from talking directly with infotainment engineering teams at two major European car manufacturers and one automotive electronic supplier that I visited with a couple of months back. That said, I've heard it said that some [presumably non-certified] third-party solutions have gotten it to work over WiFi.
