One of my favorite mods I've done to this car...really cleans up the center console area IMO!

(Shrug) If Porsche thinks PDK ******** are OK for their SUV, then IMO they're OK for the sports cars too. So much for Pebble Beach, I guess...

I wonder if anyone has tried to do this mod in reverse, installing the PDK baseplate components into a Manual instead of the leather boot.

If the geometry doesn't get in the way of all of the gear positions, it could be neat... and possibly the closest aesthetic that we can get to a gated shifter in our P-Cars.

If anyone wants to try this, I'm open to making a trade of my PDK stuff for their manual boot, lol.

Funny thing is, I also have a Macan and never really noticed it has a boot. Ok, mod approved... 😁

Exactly. I bought a Macan a couple of weeks ago, and that's what tipped me over the line. It seemed absurd to have a nicer-looking shifter in that vehicle than in my 'real' sports car. I ponied up for the aluminum PDK shifter when I ordered the 981, and I always thought the cheesy plastic piece looked incongruous next to it.

Not a make-or-break sort of mod, but I like it...

Thanks for the idea. Great mod. Took 15 minutes.

Order the 981 black leather / red stitching boot and **** combo from Sunset Porsche Parts. They had the best pricing and they were very attentive to my needs. You can get these in other colored stitching as well. For me personally I did it for the red stitching, it goes along with the rest of the GTS interior package along with the 991 carbon folding buckets which I have with red stitching.

981-424-075-20-DRM + 991-553-651-01-A05 (automatic transmission shift cover plate)

I was stuck on how to remove the center plate but technically It just pops out. Collar on the PDK **** just twists and then you pull it off. I zip tied the boot to the collar to give it a nice flush look as instructed here on this tread. Thanks for sharing everyone!

It looks like part number 981-424-075-20-DRL is correct boot for the black / platinum boot. I would really like to see a photo of this part to see the stitching color before I pull trigger if someone has already purchased one. Thanks

Me too. Since I have platinum stitching on door and dash, that would be a good choice.

FYI - There is a difference in cost and design between the 991 leather boot part and the 981 leather boot part. They have different part numbers beginning with 991 or 981 respectively. I preferred the 981 part so installed it in my 991. Others on this thread chose the 991 part. They are interchangeable but are slightly different. The 991 part contains a silver plate that states “Carrera” or “911”. The 981 part does not have this but is $40 cheaper. It is an individual decision.

Also, while playing around with the part numbers I've seen on this thread, there appears to be 2 numbers for the 991 variants. One for the 991.1 (991-424-075-10-8YR) and a second for the 991.2 (991-424-980-35-8YR). The 991.2 variant is twice as expensive.
Not having the little silver plate is not a problem, what concerns me most is does a cover for a 991.1 fit a 991.2?
On the 981 cover (981-424-075-20-DRL) with platinum stitching, my favorite choice, will it fit a 991.2?

Yes all interchangeable. I just put the 981 on my .2, but in red stitching.
