Beautiful! Would love to hear your back-to-back impressions ... no wrong answer in that garage!
OT - what do you think of the Discovery -- my wife has an LR4 that she's never giving up (at least as long as I can keep it running!)
This was a tough question. It might change later but this is the best I could do for now:
They are night and day different to me. My T is a manual but the GT3 is PDK. I wanted the PDK because it's going to see mostly track duty. I dont mind the yellow because I wanted to be noticed. Mostly on track! You know, "Hey, here comes that fast yellow Porsche again!". I plan on annoying RS drivers when I can find them! I have only put about 100 miles on the GT3 and it's fun and all but I know the biggest difference will be on the track. Around town the GT3 is like a normal automatic car except, you know, 500hp, screaming exhaust, begs to go fast etc. That's just not where it shines for me I think. The temptation to drive like an *** is a lot higher in the GT3 than the T. I have spent the last almost 4 years tracking a very modified Cayman R. It's manual, fast and fun but I decided I wanted a PDK for the track, it's just faster and there's no denying that. So moving up to the GT3 for a track dedicated car was the right move for me.
The T around town is engaging and fun with the manual. And back roads and even track time, the T does it all well. I had mine tuned for a little extra grunt so now it's a perfect for what I envisioned for that car. It's great for weekend drives and daily duty. Such a sweet spot in the Porsche lineup. I dont see my T going anywhere anytime soon. I would probably get rid of the GT3 before the T if I had to make a choice.
At the end of the day I'm lucky enough to have both for different reasons. And I even managed to talk the wife into us keeping the Cayman as well. That will go back to a more stock setup and fill DD duties with the T in 6 months or so.
As for the Disco? We actually love it. It will be my tow vehicle for the GT3 when I go to other tracks around the country. We have had a few issues, leaky windshield that was replaced, busted O2 sensor and an electrical gremlin that was cured with a software update but overall it's been great. We do have the diesel version and no issues with that either.
@Wing Commander Thanks for the kind words! It was easy to take the plunge on Racing Yellow after looking at your car all these years. Glad to be in the yellow family!!!
Great insight! Thanks for sharing! Wonderful setups!
