Shopping for a 991.1 Carrera S
Hello all! I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first time posting. I appreciate all the informative posts!
I've been keeping my eye out for a 991.1, and have come across a 2012 Carrera S, with just under 34k miles. It's a "launch vehicle" with PDK, full leather interior, Burmester audio, PSE, Sport Chrono, 14-way power heated seats, PDLS, Park Assist, etc...pretty loaded. It would have been nice if it had Premium Pkg Plus though -- vented seats would be great in FL and the entry & drive feature would be a nice convenience. It's sold by a franchised, non-Porsche dealer, so it's not certified, but has gone through the dealer's service department for oil change, tire replacement, wheel scuff repair, etc. According to the CarFax, it's a 2-owner vehicle, without any "accidents" reported, but during the 2nd owner's ownership, "damage" was reported to the rear bumper. The 2nd owner had it for about 10mos after this damage was reported before the vehicle was sold/traded. I am assuming that this damage is associated with a 6" vertical scratch on the rear bumper. I haven't seen the car in person myself, since it's about 900mi away, but my cousin who lives in the area, has checked out and also test drove it. He said it looks and drives great and he didn't notice the scratch until the salesman pointed it out. I would still have the car inspected by a Porsche shop if I do decide to move forward the purchase.
Should I be concerned that the "damage" on the CarFax will forever be a ding on the history, and as a result, be harder to trade/sell in the future? Should I just be patient, and hold out longer, and possibly pay several thousand more? Should I focus my search on a Porsche CPO vehicle? The car has been marked down already a few times by the dealer since inquired about it over a month ago -- it's now $4k less than originally priced. The sales manager rejected my offer last month (they advertise as no-haggle dealership for whatever that's worth), and now it has essentially come down to near what I offered initially. Other 991.1 Carrera S currently on the market with similar features are priced high into the $60k's - $70k's .
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, since this would pretty much be a weekend-only car, driven at the most 8x per month (less than 100mi per weekend), most 3rd party warranties would expire in time before mileage for me. I'm not familiar with any major repairs for the 991, other than possible PDK due to lack of fluid changes. Anything I should be aware of?

The PDK alone is enough of a reason to get a Fidelity Warranty. But there are random other things like changeover valves, that can cost some money.
Sounds like a car that you should get a PPI on, and see if it checks out. If it does, I don't see a reason not to purchase.

What is the condition of the car? Interior leather wear and tear?
just to give you a benchmark. I picked up my 2012.5 MSRP 118k cpo with 25k miles for 72.5k 6 mos ago.
How much is the asking price?

The interior looks like a 9/10 (no visible creases, or scratches on aluminum trim), the exterior may be 8/10. Other than the one scratch on the rear bumper, I'm not aware of any other flaw. There is paint protection film on the bumper, hood, mirrors, and stone guard on the lower rear quarter panel. The car had an original MSRP of $125,185. Dealer asking price is $60k.

Seems like a decent 991 for the money. A PPI would make me feel better about a purchase like this.

I ended up passing on purchasing this one. It was nicely equipped and in pretty good condition, but I felt that I could hold out a bit more for a better deal (options, color, etc, even at a higher price).
