I welded all of the seams on my tips and then blended them smooth to match the contours. My next step is to either polish them or have them coated. Either way they already look significantly better, are supper easy to clean, and very inexpensive to do. I also like the fact that they are still original equipment.
Thanks, it didn’t take a lot of time. I TIG welded it using 309L SS weld filler and blended it smooth using carbide burs and a DynaFile. I confirmed the base material is 304 SS using a XRF spectrum analyzer.
Fortunately I have acces to a lot of tools and technology. I manage a turbine engine repair shop where repair combustion systems, blade, vanes, etc. for gas turbines.
I had a Soul exhaust on my prior 991 and the workmanship was fantastic. I would recommend one of their double-walled tips.
I'm not sure if the exhaust gasses on the 991.2 run as hot as on the 991.1 due to the turbos, but on the 991.1 the single-walled tips experienced some heat-related color changes over time. The double-walled tips should provide some insulation to keep the outer parts fully silver... unless you don't mind a little "warming" to their color. Or ask if they can custom finish them to a dark color instead of silver.

Hey thank you for the love! The raw stainless steel tips will turn gold over time. We're using 321 stainless which is slightly more stout than 304 but will still turn. We've got several coating options from PVD coating to ceramic coating to make something unique for anyone interested in customization.

Me too, kinda...I am sitting less than 3' away from a pair of Soul hi-flow cats - can't wait until my car arrives so I can get them installed.
Just had mine installed on the 2019 4GTS and you are not going to be disappointed. You'll experience increased crackling on deceleration and a more raw sound through acceleration. All of this is going to be really nice as soon as you can get past 2,000 miles on the odometer and rev to the limit!! I'm a fifth of the way there. By the way it took the tech almost four hours which included some time to let the existing cats cool down. Bumper stayed on during the install.

Looking forward to it for sure. An experienced Indy shop told me it will take 1 1/2 hours...we'll see. I might change the tips down the road but the stock Black GTS tips should match the color combo well.
