Now, if they had offered the T with a few special colors and the ability to spec silver wheels, I might feel differently...
Pete, a T with silver wheels...!

Ha. I can dig it!

(And, oddly enough, it's the closest thing to the CTR "Yellow Bird" in my profile pic PAG has made yet...narrow body with a "small-bore" twin-turbo engine. I wonder what a Carrera T with a 3.4 kit and the wick turned up might be like. One thing is certain: It wouldn't be hard to match the Bird's power. Wonder if Alex Ross or Mike Levitas are listening...)

Did you see what Litchfield Motors here in the UK did to their Carrera T?

Its an SUV, its not a sports car. Irrespective what Porsche say.

I think you missed the point, the point being the marketing - not the vehicle. Macan, 718, T - the marketing is completely disconnected from the reality.

And why I bought my T had nothing to do with. The parts on the car is what mattered to me. Not any ancestral line to the original, light weight or any of that. Growing up as a Gen Xer we all were lied to by people who were trying to sell us their crap. This is nothing new to me.

OK, I don't define myself by a marketing label However, marketing is a reflection on, and in how a company sees its target market. I think its a concern that Porsche marketing gets ever more hyperbolic.

I don't see it that way. Initially it was the fan-base that defined Porsche....., and BMW, not by their marketing mind-f@@king that put it on the map. Thereafter yes, it was the marketing that captured all the Porsche / BMW owner wannabes. Apart from BMW and Porsche, this strategy works on other products too. Apple comes to mind.

Reviving an interesting thread...maybe “Carrera T vs the World” is more appropriate I drank the initial marketing Kool Aid for the Carrera T. I did my research on every video and review and of course I test drove both S and T models. I finally decided to make a move back to Porsche after 25 years of BMW ownership. Here’s my journey. FWIW I’ve owned several BMWs (1600s/2002/318/325s/E46/E92) and Porsches (‘70 911T/964/928s4 and ‘19T). I’ve always enjoyed BMW sports cars, especially for their dual purpose functionality. Any car I purchased would have to have daily usability. My last two BMWs were M cars, an E46 M3 with KW Clubsports and the usual light track mods, intake and exhaust. I owned the car from 2002-2013 put 100k miles on it with dozens of track days. It was extremely easy to drive fast and find the limits. It was capable and my track buddies with Porsche’s were impressed with my lap times. It seemed to be the ideal do everything car. After 10 solid years and no issues I moved to the E92 M3 DCT. I loved the comfort, the snort and wail of the V8. It would need to excel at duties as a daily / track car. Initially I found the E92 to be porky and numb and she pushed like a fat pig in corners. After several mods, firmer Eibach suspension, GC camber plates and Turner test pipes she sound better and handled more like my beloved E46. With Nitto NT01s this became an extremely capable track car. I was happy again. After 5 years I felt that the car was assisting me too much on the track and I yearned for a more analog experience. So I searched for a lighter, more nimble, more “driver focused vehicle.” This is when I began to look at Porsche for an answer. I went to my local dealership and I drove a dark blue C2S model with PDK. It felt lighter, in fact the front seemed a little too light and unplanted compared to my BMW with a V8 sitting over the front axle. The power of the S engine was good, but I was coming from 440 HP and the PDK with lightning fast shifts was honestly the opposite of the analog experience I was looking for. I drove a 2018 911T Manuel and this checked all of my boxes for a more raw, connected driving experience. I could hear the intake butterfly woof in air each time I pressed the gas and I could hear the throw out beating spinning each time the clutch was depressed...amazing. The 911T suspension also felt like the Goldilocks setting for carving canyons in either the sport or sport plus mode. I loved the fact that The T had lower final drive ratio, limited slip differential and manual with short shifter. I recalled the driving experience of my first 1970 911 T, noisy, focused and I had to wring it out to get the full performance of the motor. I ordered a 2019 model with limited options: Miami blue, GT silver Carrera T interior, BOSE and Bixenon lights. Dealer gave me 7k off MSRP and I was driving her in 3 months. I did not choose some of the heavier options like 18 way seats, FAL or RAS to keep weight down and keep the drive pure. At the end of the day I couldn’t be happier. I run lap times 1-2 seconds faster than the M3’s now and I can still put my kids in back without too many gripes. I love that Porsche gave me this option to get back into a driver focused lightweight 911 again. Cheers to all 911 owners, there really is no substitute!
