Default Rotor Set Screws

Hey guys, so I ordered new ECS Tuning wheel spacers for my 991.2 5mm rear, 12mm front. They came with new rotor set screws to hold spacers in place, are these absolutely necessary to use? I can’t seem to get the old set screws off the rotors! Any tips/info much appreciated

Yes they are necessary.

Use the correct screwdriver/bit to remove them or you will strip them. I can't imagine them being that corroded on a car as new as a 991.2

Yeah they’re pretty bad unfortunately. I have 50k miles and I drive my 911 through winter, salt, snow, etc. I’ve corroded wastegate rods in the past along with other parts, I’m thinking an impact screwdriver might do the trick. If not, not sure what else to try

Use an impact driver with the correct bit. Those screws essentially keep the rotor aligned to hub before wheel bolts are added.

Gotcha. Well just take your time.. they will need to come off for brakes at one time or another anyway, might as well get it done now.

Use some PB Blaster. That helped me loosen them up.

IIRC what I had to do with one was use a screwdriver socket, knocked the driver into the screw with a hammer a couple times, than used a long ratchet to break it loose.

Looks good.

I ended up going from 8mm front to 12mm. Fills out the fender a little better.
