Sorry to hear that...not what we would expect. Please tell me they aren't going to replace it with the same part.

@OP - out of curiosity, how did the dealer decide the water pump needed replacement? Check various *pumps until they found the one making the noise? Or?

(1) . They put it on a hoist and could hear the noise, and most importantly, could easily locate it

(2) . They also logged the car and a problem was noted there as well - they didn't specify if it was a code or some other form of "data"

Thanks OP. I'm going to note these issues before my first service. The delay of four weeks for a part that historically fails, leads me to believe either they get used up more quickly than planned, or, they don't want to spend money on look-ahead storage in a warehouse here for a better customer experience.

I just read this thread last night for the first time and noticed that my oil temps were over 225 degrees F today, under normal driving (not start-stop) with outside temps of 69/70 degrees. I seem to recall the oil temp hovering around 200 or so. I hit a high of 232 under normal driving.....does that seem a little on the high side?

The cooling system is dependant on the mode e.g. if in sport mode (or sport plus) the normal temperature on modest day should be 90 degrees C/ 194 degrees f (and nearly rock solid on that) in normal mode the running temperature generally sits between 100 and 105 degrees C/ 212 to 220 f.

The important point being, in a daily driving scenario the oil temperature should largely remain very constant. So in my case, during daily driving when warmed up, the car is rock solid at 194 f - it hardly deviates from this. That is why I noticed the change over a period of a couple of weeks e.g. moved to a constant 198 f then on to a constant 201 f and finally just before I heard the intermittent whine to a constant 204 f (all in daily driving, in sport mode).

The key point being, in sport mode, it never returned to the normal "baseline" of 194 degrees f. For reference the highest oil temp, I have measured was during a motorsport event ~ 246 f (sport plus)

I seem to recall the car running at 194 degrees most days too.....I don't recall ever seeing it over 200. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and get their thoughts. Thanks for your input!

Mine just went at 2,600 miles. Noticed steam in rear view mirror and then "pull over and add coolant" warning. Gauge off the scale. Pulled over, bought some bottled water, waited for it to cool and then added water. Managed to get home (about 2 miles) just before it let go all over the drive. Porsche assist were great and dealer confirmed water pump failure. 2018 C4S cabriolet.

I had to replace my water pump with only 10,000kms. They fixed it under warranty.

Still on original water pump. 170,234 miles, 997.2 C4S. It looks like 991.2 had a bad batch or probably were not made in Germany.
