Default Headlight gap specification

Does anyone know the specification for the gap around the headlights? How big of a gap should there be between the bottom of the headlight and the bumper cover?

I know where you are going with this question... it looks like there is a fitment issue at the bottom, right ?

A truck backed up into my car and the bumper suffered some gouges. They were repaired but that light now has a larger gap. I’m not happy with it and would like the spec so I can get back with the Porsche approved body shop.

You already know...

The driver side has a gap, but it’s 2mm compared with the passenger side at 4mm.

Driver side.

Driver side.

Both headlights on my car have the same gapping (about 2mm). There may be more damage than you suspect. I would have both headlights and alignment of the lights checked. You may want to push in the headlight with the larger gap applying minimal force. If the headlight/s were removed, one may not be mounted securely.

If it's a 991.1..... pop the headlight out and see if it is seated properly.

There have been several threads here about head lights falling out while braking. The reinstall of the head lights is simple but critical in that they have to engage the clips. Get it checked as the gap is not correct and you don't want to have more serious issues as these headlights are big $'s.

I’ve removed and reinstalled the headlamp a few times. It’s seated in there as it should. The locking mechanism makes a loud click when it locks in place.

The body shop sanded the contour incorrectly during the repair is what I’m suspecting. The passenger side is rounded off compared to the driver side.

Took the car in and the bracket under the bumper cover was adjusted. That took care of the gap.
