Shift knob coming loose

Default Shift **** coming loose
Have a 991.1, installed factory short shift kit (from the GT4) and after 2 years my shift **** is coming loose. Anyone else experience this? Wondering how to fix ... obviously reluctant to throw any type of adhesive on the shaft for worry of not getting it off again.

If it is loose, remove the shift boot and turn the circle ring on the base of the shift **** underneath the boot. That locks it in to place.
