Haha, yup it’s a “feature” of our vehicles.

Was a thread somewhere about this. I find if I bed my brakes they are good for a while.

No squealing for about a week and a half after washing and application of Hydes Serum rust stopper. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I tried Hydes Serum rust stopper for the first time...it dried but then when I went for a drive it left white "water spot" looking markets on my black GTS wheels. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

Make sure you follow the instructions (from the AutoGeek website):
  1. Ensure wheels are clean and cool to the touch.
  2. After cleaning wheel and brake system, rinse thoroughly with water.
  3. While brake rotor is still wet, spray Rust Stopper liberally on brake rotor surface in a sweeping motion and allow to dry.
  4. Remove any over spray with soft microfiber towel.

Porsche brakes need some occasional heavy stopping exercise from high speed, to bed in and run quiet. Otherwise they are going to screech.

I have no squeal. I have to wonder if it helps that as soon as I finish washing/drying the car, but before I dry/finish the wheels, I take it for a short drive to sling out remaining water in the rotors, also applying the brakes heavily enough to heat the brakes up and dry the pads and rotors off. This does cause rust to get slung from the rotors onto the barrels, but I clean this up when I clean up the wheels after returning back home. It certainly takes longer to do, but I've done this with all of my 911s and have never had squeals. Plus the wheels end up really clean, including the barrels.

My non- PCCB 997 and 991 never squeal and I have never done anything to " prevent " it. On the other hand my 987 with PCCB has one wheel that squeals unless I regularly work them hard. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it.

It’s the soft braking in daily traffic (don’t usually hammer my brakes in the middle of downtown traffic) that does it for me....or when wet from rain. Usually not an issue, just a few sessions of harder braking fixes it.

A common problem. My wife had a 6.2l AMG C63. She complained to the service department that the brakes squealed. The response was, "That's right, you drive an AMG."

Oh, also, my 2017 C4 GTS carbon ceramic brakes have started squealing too.

I think it is random and "luck" of the draw.
Former 991 squealed......service dept said this was normal.
Current 991 no squeal.
Did/do the exact same with both in terms of care and driving.

I had the issue with my 2017 991.2. 4S. It was horrible. I ended up having Centric Posi Quiet pads installed. No issues since.
