Default stuck fuel door

I was stuck at the gas station this am with a fuel door that would not release. it would slightly pop open as normal but only by 1/8 inch it could not be opened and something was still preventing it from release.

Im posting for anyone that experiences this in the future in a jam: Finally after locking and unlocking the car several times the culprit appears to have been whatever locking mechanism is activated by the locking system.

whats concerning: the car was unlocked to begin with....I was driving and I pulled up to the pump so how did it get locked? the key was no where near me so It had not been accidentally activated while I was driving(not sure this would do anything anyway). I had already tried locking and unlocking the car and that did not release the door the first few times. about 5 minutes later I went through everything again and maybe the 5th time I unlocked the car it released. just FYI

If it happens again you can try to use the emergency unlocking feature:

I had the same issue last week on a 2018 Carrera. I too locked and unlocked it a few times and it finally released. Maybe the start of a problem??

You guys are smarter than me. I was at a gas station in Hungary and locked my car. I went around to open my gas cap and couldn't get it open. I started looking for a screw driver or something else to pry it open. Luckily I decided to unlock the car and it opened before I found a screw driver.

Didn't know about the backup method either. lol. Thanks for that post.

Huh, I had to go look this up; I guess there is an emergency flap release.

I hope I never have to do this, but this info is definitely handy to know!
