Mine get a blue tinted hue also when auto dimming. Have never seen a brown tinted hue on either of mine. Does not look right.

OK finally drove my car this morning, and it looks just like that as well.....this is when car is off.....tried the dimming button....doesn't change much...but i know for a fact that it works as it should at night. where it dims if there is a bright light hitting from the back)

Can other post a pict of how your mirror looks like with (cars with auto dimming feature)

FYI i have a 991.1 S

I actually don't think it's supposed to be tinted brown like that. It should be way more subtle I think... like barely visisble from the normal mirror. Mine stays with that brownish tint whether autodim is on or off. Only time it changes is if autodim is activated... then it turns blue.

Default Glass is failing

Mirror glass is failing. Dimming mirrors contain filmfluid and there is a leak allowing air or other contaminant to affect the filmfluid. Happened to an X5 that I owned. Symptoms were exactly the same - discoloration but autodim still functioned.

You will eventually need to replace the mirror glass.

Regards,

BIFF

^^^ This seems to be the most likely answer. Some see the brown tint, some don't. I looked at mine this afternoon and there's no hint of shading until I go into a dimly lit area and when I do it's a shade of grey, not brown.

Read a few posts above - glass/fluid is failing and needs to be replaced.
