Default Door bass rattle FIXED!!!

There's a trove of info on door rattles, but haven't seen this one mentioned as yet. My symptoms were a consistent rattle on the driver's door when hitting minor bumps, and more pronounced rattle/buzz with any kind of bass in music.

Contemporaneous with another install, I removed the door panel and found 5 of the zip clips holding down the wiring harness to the door panel were broken/loose. I had the door panel replaced under warranty for adhesive degradation, so it appears the tech at the dealer broke the clips when swapping the wiring harness from the old to new panel and just let it be.

The PSA: If the door panel is replaced, insist upon new clips. Some of them, though not broken, still had enough play to make some noise. I placed a small strip of 3m double-sided trim tape between the clip and the plastic panel, which will keep them in place and abate any buzzing.

After re-installing the door panel, all buzzing is gone!

I had the same rattle on my passenger door. Definitely nice when it's no longer present.

It's so satisfying when you knock one of those out.

I have the same rattle on both doors, even at very low volume and bass set to normal. How hard is it to remove the panels?

panel removal is very easy and I followed a helpful youtube video. 3 plastic panels snap off revealing 4 screws then lift up about 2 inches then pull outward to disconnect door release cable.

As the video posted above, very, very easy. When you take the panel off, ensure the rubber isolators are still installed securely on the door side for the plastic hooks. Once the 4 bolts and plastic covers removed, simply lift up on the panel.

Great! thanks, I have a new project now. Does anyone know where can I get the clips? Just in case they are broken.

Had the exact same issue. Car is otherwise flawless and rattle-free. Got this diagnosed and fixed under CPO. Kudos to Porsche of Marin for going the extra mile when they could have just brushed it off...

The timing on this is perfect. I also have the buzzing in the driver's door, which at times can drive me up a wall. I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Thank you.

Only issue with my 991.2 GTS Coupe is a buzz from passenger door near speaker when stereo plays bass notes. Figured Porsche was getting back at me for not ordering Bose or Burmiester. Dealer is 7 hour round trip so not worth it. I've been contemplating setting car on fire and committing insurance fraud, but thanks to this thread, I will try to remove panel and see if I can fix it myself.

Add me to this list as well

Driver's side door rattling under bumps or heavier bass/louder music, which is mildly irritating and sadly not isolated as all my 991s have had a rattle somewhere in the interior...

Trying to narrow down the culprit, my rattle is coming from the storage cubby hinge/door/cover in the driver's side door panel

Not quite at the stage of setting my car on fire lol, need to find time to figure out how to safely take the door panel off without destroying the car and see what's what
