Thanks for updating this thread. I got my Porsche Centre to carry out a visual inspection of the water pump recently ( at about 8,000 miles) when I had winter tyres/wheels fitted to my 2018 Carrera T. I will continue to get them to inspect it each time I’m in. Next visits will be to refit summer tyres/wheels and then subsequently for my 20,000 service.

so if it was a known problem does the replacement part fix the issue or are people experiencing multiple failures for this same problem over time?

I have a 991.2 c2s coming and I hate reading these threads

Good question, hopefully not another BMW HPFP fiasco...

I'm in the same boat (waiting on a 991.2 GTS) and also hate reading this stuff. Although it seems something along these lines occurs with pretty much every brand/model of car out there.

I'm making a note to check the coolant level frequently when I get the car. Hopefully an improved part is being used for more recent builds.

Here's a pic of ours I took this morning, Started ~1K miles and s-l-o-w-l-y got worse. Porsche says if nothing is on the ground there's nothing they can do. I expect the first drop to fall the minute the warranty expires.

Well, for simple top-ups, all you need is distilled H2O.

Just so you know, even a car without leaks can be "topped-up every day" and it will take it. The bobber always returns to "minimum". The car just consumes/expells the extra coolant, and the bobber goes back to min. On the 991.1 cars for sure.

Side-note- it's funny seeing a plastic honeycomb oil pan in the picture above.

I think its crazy that the dealer sees a leak and deems it not bad enough to fix. Why wait until it gets worse.

I guess you’re right the dealer probably tops it off at the annual service

Not really understanding the dealer's attitude about this. It's clearly leaking something that isn't meant to leak. They should fix the problem now.

I'd be a squeaky wheel, reaching up above the dealership level, until Porsche produced some grease. Unfortunate automotive pun unintended.

Been awhile but I think the water pump was replaced on m 991.2 C2s before I noticed an issue. Maybe a recall? I had it in for normal service. Then I had another small leak that was dripping onto a turbo so I would smell coolant in the garage after parking the car. That was a leaking overflow tank. Now fixed.
