As far as I know, modifying your Catalytic converter does not pass inspection in California

Abe, there's a two part process to inspection in Cali for Carb certification, you have Visual and Smog. I've never seen a car equipped with 200cell HJS sport cats fail the Smog sniffer test, but Visually they would fail as they are not carb certified. That being said, new cars in Cali have a grace period of 5 years, then 2 years in between inspections if memory serves me correct. Although this would be completely up to your comfort level, there are some fellows that simply swap back to stock for the testing then put the sport cats back on. A good way to look at it would be the cost of labor to swap them back to stock and put them back on one time in 7 years. It's a pretty negligible cost considering the enhanced driving experience for that length of time.

are there more comparisons of before and after for the cats?? ideally someone can do one with similar camera equipment and environment

Also i remember there was a fitting issue for some people in a previous thread, has that been resolved?

We've updated our PSE design to have more depth to slide into the exhaust for perfect fitment for not only factory exhausts but aftermarket like the Akrapovic system as well.

Comparison between old and new:

We've had customers report success, Vivid Racing sells our Sport Catalytic Converters in AZ with no reported issues according to Austin there.

Which is the best bang or the buck, if you could only choose one of them? Will there be a noticeable change with just cats?
I am mildly intrigued by this discussion.
Is this the equivalent of clipping playing cards to your bicycle wheels with wooden laundry clips?
Should it be cross-posted to a Harley site: Loud (Porsche) Pipes Saves Lives?

Just axin' . . .

ugh really tempting. how worth it is it to install the cats on a brand new GTS? Would it actually make a big different in sound? Anyone had any issues after installing these?

also live in CA, but for new cars i won't need to do smog test for the next 6 years.

Very worth it. The sound is superb putting high flow cats on a PSE equipped 991.2, regardless of model. Kudos on the GTS by the way, very nice car!

Soul cats and Akrapovic are a winning (if a bit pricey) combination. Definitely fixed the overly quiet demeanor of the car in stock form. Feels slightly quicker too, although this could be a bit psychological as louder must be faster, right?

Thank you! As long as you enjoy the results, that's what matters!

To be clear, the Akrapovic muffler is expensive, not the Soul cats so much.

Something we've been playing around with here, with our non-PSE car. Most of the feedback seems to be the desire for more refined sounds, and more volume. I've been scratching my head for a bit on this as a high quality exhaust system can get VERY expensive VERY quickly. The other thing we've observed is that having an emissions compliant solution is a concern for many owners as well. So we set out with some goals...

1) Make 'Sport' mode the 'Normal' mode sound.
2) 'Sport' mode needs MORE volume!
3) OEM fitment and level of quality
4) Emissions Compliant
5) More power
6) Look stock to not draw the wrong attention
Did we hit the mark? Love to hear some feedback

That sound is perfection.

Would love to hear a video of it under load!
