I ordered my GTS with black leather interior with GT Silver deviated stitching, and carbon fiber trim. I do like the way it turned out, but lately I’ve thought the interior needed a little kick. So I ordered painted trim from Suncoast, and I painted the door handle insert and Function-First shift **** Carmine Red. It’s a big change from what I had and sometimes when I look at it I think it looks great, other times I think it might be too much. So anyway, opinions welcome.
I like it and I ordered the matching exterior color trim so maybe I am biased; however, I thought the colored trim also extended along the doors?
It does if you factory order the colored trim. In my case I ordered carbon fiber which is on the door and I just bought the painted trim from Suncoast. The lack of red on the door is the reason I painted the door pull insert red. The door needed some color.
I do like the door handle inserts - did you pop them out and spray them?
Yes, they pop out in a matter of seconds. Pull the door handle open with one hand, and with your other hand grab and pull the wide part toward the interior of the car which releases that part of the insert. Then push the pointed end forward until it unhooks from the door.
I use PPG automotive paint products, and the inserts were painted with PPG Deltron Concept single stage. Shift **** the same. Been using the brand for years and it is great stuff. Used a Paasche air brush.
I think color looks great inside. Maybe not the shift ****. But, I am also biased.
Funny you should say that. I am thinking about going to a black one with a Carmine Red shift pattern. The plus of the painted shift **** is it does not get as hot as the anodized one. They also make a delrin **** but I like the looks of the aluminum one better.
