Default Change PSE note

Hi all. Have had my 991.1 C4S for four months now and recently noticed a change in the exhaust note when in sports mode....definitely more of a throaty rumble. No change however in note when sports exhaust is switched off. Just wondering how this could be possible. Could it be a fault or perhaps it was not fully operational when sports exhaust was switched on until a recent change? Any ideas? Thanks!

Should be able to hear the valves open and close especially in a garage type setting.

If the "change over valve" went bad you would get a fault note on the screen.

It's original factory fit. Was wondering if it is designed and constructed in such a way, that it could develope a small blow out that would be heard in sports mode only since it sounds fine in ordinary mode?

One of the valves may be sticky and wasn't fully opening until now.

^^^ Not true in my case - no error warning but PSE was stuck on. I've had two COV changed out in my 4.5 -year old 991

Do you mean the flaps or gates within the pipes? If so, then I think I can hear them operating okay. Presumably the changeover valve would be difficult to hear. Will keep an eye on it anyway just in case it's starting to blow out somewhere.

Are you sure it is sounding different from the outside or is this something you are observing from the inside? The reason it would sound different on the inside is that the symposer openings into the cockpit are closed in normal mode but open in sport mode, regardless of the PSE settings.

Agree with that you won't necessarily get a code if the PSE changeover fails unless it can be sensed electrically (the coil in it fails). If the valve just gets stuck, the car has no way of sensing that. I don't think this is OP's problem though.
