My SA talked me out of it, wish I had it.

Thanks all, I've added FAL to my build. Now I just need to decide between Chalk or bite the $8K bullet and go for PTS Golf Blue

What did he sell you on instead? Just asking for my knowledge. I'm guessing there are larger profit margins on other options they push vs FAL.

Honestly, he didn't really "sell" me on anything. I asked his advice on certain options for my build. I also asked the manager of the service department his advice as well and encourage newbies like myself to do that. I added a couple things after that discussion.

Please don't read anything negative in my comment. My SA is fantastic, but he didn't think I would need it. Maybe the '16 C2 had a bit more ground clearance, dunno. However, my '17 C2 scapes on occasion as it is not always possible to go in at an angle.

He (same SA) discouraged me, too, on the FAL...but then again he tried to also discourage me on PCCBs and ACC but I wouldn’t listen hahaha! I certainly loaded up on other options lol.

I am fine without the FAL...you just have to drive at an angle, slowly, for my driveway...

Hmmm, maybe he is concerned with durability?

It's well worth having FAL, if you can get it. Our GTS has it & saves me a ton of heartburn, but our 997 doesn't & generates plenty of heartburn for me. The Hubby didn't think FAL was worth my insistence on it at first, but he's changed his mind on it & agrees with me now.

My SA also made a point of saying that I "really didn't need it" but I got it anyway as a co-worker demonstrated the clear benefit on his 2016 Panamera GTS and I feel the need to protect my hard-earned investment.

He mentioned to me that it didn't work (failed?) half the time. He also said ceramic coating over PCCBs and would I really use ACC?

(I had PCCBs and ACC on my previous 911 so I was very familiar with life with those options. I didn't have FAL before [wasn't an option] but if I had, I probably would have wanted to order it on the new one, too!)

I was already way over what I had intended to spend so FAL didn't even register for me.

As far as I know PTS is no longer 8k, its 15k, so that may help your decision..

According to the configurator, Chalk is about $3K and PTS is $11K, that's where I came up with $8K. The problem is that I'm a blue car guy, recently purchased an M3 in Yas Marina Blue. The C2 GTS is a weekend car that I plan to keep for a long time so as much as I like Chalk, I feel like I'd be kicking myself 2-3 years from now if I don't pony up the extra cash for Golf or Voodoo Blue.

FAL is something none of us "want" but we all "need" at some point. So happy I have mine. No more jaw clenching scrapes on driveways

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I had the exact same question when ordering a GTS about a year ago. When I asked, I recall it being about 50/50.

With regard to a 4-post lift, you do NOT need FAL if you have the longer ramps.
FWIW, I have a Backyard Buddy with low profile race ramps.
I pull up on lift all the time and rarely activate FAL since I know I don't have to.

Regardless, I'm glad I went with the FAL for other reasons that can not always be predicted ahead of time (like moving, railroad crossings, crappy curbs, speed bumps, etc.).

I had a 2018 GTS with SPASM that did not have FAL. The car would generally "fit" in most places but I always had to think about entry/exit and plan where I was driving. I also bought two spare front lips to replace when scratched (that I need to sell!). Now I have a 991.2 GT3 and have FAL. The general "will it fit" anxiety has gone down now, of course large bumps and curbs require thought but, getting in and out my garage and most parking spots is not much easier with the FAL.

If I bought another SPASM car I would 100% get FAL.
